Day two at JCK Luxury and Couture was a bit more sporadic. From colorful center stones to the surprising comeback of rose gold, the overall theme seems to be color and fashion. Although jewelers have always pandered to the classic bride, this year they’re focusing on the more fashionable bride, the bride who doesn’t want what everyone else has and prefers a ring that looks a bit more fashion forward. Below are some of our favorite pieces that reflect this trend.
Wedding Bands
These adorable thin, stackable bands from Shaesby are made of sapphires and rubies and can be easily mixed and matched with other rings.
This unique band from Ila&i has rose cut rhodolite garnet stones in yellow gold, giving the ring a vintage and fashion forward look.
George Sawyer is known for his unique mokume gane rings, a technique that involves merging different metals into a unique wood grain pattern. These two bands (which are both popular for men and women) are made of an assortment of metals called “koi” and “wabi-sabi.” Koi is Japanese for love, while wabi sabi roughly translates in Japanese to “beauty in imperfect things.” The ring on the left is a spring koi band while the one on the right is a winter wabi sabi band.
These gorgeous thick bands by Hammerman are perfect for brides who want a dramatic band that can stand on its own.
Engagement Rings
During the buzz of Kate Middleton and Prince William’s wedding, several brides wanted sapphire rings that looked similar to Kate’s engagement ring, like this one by Penny Preville. Sapphires are still a major trend, and their elegance and affordability continue to enrapture us.
Although we’ve been focusing on fashion-forward bridal pieces, this solitaire engagement ring from new designer Tsarina has a unique floral bridge — something we’ve been seeing a lot of lately.
We noticed a lot of engagement rings, like this one by Harry Kotlar, take advantage of the new rose gold trend by having a rose gold and pink diamond halo around the center stone.
Accessories
When it comes to accessories, it’s best to look for statement pieces that are unique but also can be a part of a cohesive look (for example, if you were styling a bridal party). Some of these pieces would make great wedding day gifts for a bride or for her bridesmaids.
