Are More Women Proposing, and is it Okay?

One of my favorite movies is Runaway Bride and my favorite scene is when Julia Robert’s character proposes to Richard Gere after running out on him before. It seemed so wonderful that she was able to take control of the situation, rather than waiting for Gere’s character to come around. After all, she did leave him at the altar. Is this the only situations where it’s “acceptable” for a woman to propose?

Nowadays, more and more women are proposing, and it’s more and more accepted.  At Engagement 101, we know for a fact that more and more women are proposing! You can click here to read the story of one of our reader, Katt, who proposed to her love with marbles!

Make Sure You’re on the Same Page Before Proposing to Him

The biggest thing to remember if you decide to propose to your man, just like it would be if the roles were reversed is that you are on the same page. Make sure you’ve talked about marriage and he’s on board before you make your grand gesture. If you feel like you’re in a relationship were you’re both equal and not so traditional, proposing to him might not be such a far fetch option to consider.

Wondering if you should propose to him? Take our quiz and find out!
