She Proposed to Him with Marbles!

The Proposal

My proposal is a bit different because I proposed to HIM! We had a tradition where every month on our anniversary date we placed a marble into a glass that we had gotten on our first date. We joked about playing a game of marbles with them when we were 80. So I sent him on a scavenger hunt to all of the adventures we had been to so far together. I had originally chosen a different location for the scavenger hunt, a beautiful garden, but was told at the last minute that I would be unable to hide the marbles there because of a “threat to the wildlife”! So I had only a matter of hours to assemble the hunt and make it a reality.

At each location he found an envelope with the clue to the next place, and a marble. I sent him first to the bar where we had met, to and ice cream shop that we had visited, to a hotel that was rumored to be haunted to attempt ‘ghost hunting’, to a place that had a hysterical Elvis impersonator, and the last place that I sent him was to a fountain where we had made wishes on our second date.

That was were I presented the ring.  I had numbered each of the envelopes that he found with a number, and the one that held the ring was #8.  I turned the envelope on it’s side and said “This is not envelope #8, it’s envelope infinity (because that is the symbol for infinity… and 8 turned on it’s side), because that is how long I want to be with you.  I’d be honored if you’d be my husband.  (He said yes, as soon as he saw the imprint of the ring in the envelope, but I made him be quiet until I could actually ask him… after all, I’d been practicing my ‘speech’ so I could do it without crying!)

The Engagement Ring

I bought the ring at Jared. It’s stainless steel because Sean is allergic to every metal known to man. It has a small diamond in it.
