My reaction: I jumped in the air after silently nodding like an idiot.

When my husband proposed, he said I stood their in silence for what seemed like forever, but then finally whispered yes after nodding like an idiot. I had NO idea how I’d react to my proposal. But ultimately, after the long silence, it ended up with tons of jumping.

You dream about the perfect guy. You fantasize about your ideal wedding. And of course you’ve planned what kind of diamond you want. But have you thought about your reaction? While the proposal is a big deal, your reaction is just as important (especially to him). Take it from the ladies who’ve come before you with these various proposal reactions, including the good, the bad and the ugly.

The “I’m going to throw up”
It’s not the most romantic thing in the world, but at least she said “Yes.”

The Fainting Goat
Fainting goats are a special breed of goats that faint when they’re scared. Apparently in some women, it’s a sign of sheer shock and joy? Fast forward to 1:26. Remember to breathe! You don’t want to break your neck before walking down the aisle!

The Swearing Sailor
She’s obviously happy…but I don’t think your future husband really wanted to hear dirty words during this important moment. Think before you speak. And if all else fails, just say “YES!”

The Screamer
Screaming with joy is fantastic! …But be prepared to be filmed by strangers and wind up on Youtube. Check out 45 seconds into this video where a guy surprises his girl at a movie theater. EVERYONE within a 10 foot radius whips out their iPhones.

The Crier
Most guys want the waterworks reaction–unless you run away afterward. Lucky for this guy, his crier stayed.

The Incoherent Squealer
Super cute. Just remember to keep your squealing at a high octave to let him know that means “Yes!”
