The proposal. It’s one of the most beautiful moments of your life. You hang on every single word that your man is saying as he pours out eloquent words of how awesome you are.

But….what if he used the word “but” at some point in that supposedly eloquent speech? “But” is not a romantic word. In fact, it’s a word that strikes fear in the heart of any human being in any conversation.

Well for the Bachelor’s proposal on Monday, he used the word “but” twice. Sure, the first time was in his proposal let down to the girl he didn’t choose (which I must say was TERRIBLE! He basically admitted to loving her, “but”). I guess I was just surprised to see it used the second time…you know… with the girl he was picking.

You can see the look of horror on Courtney’s face. However, it was just a fake-out. Ha…ha? I guess I fail to see the purpose in making your future bride break out into cold sweats right before you ask her to be your wife.

When I was proposed to, there was an unintentional fake-out moment when my fiance was giving his speech. He nervously fumbled over his words and said, “And I…I just can’t grow old with you.”

I looked at him confused, “Say what?”

He looked confused. “Huh? What did I say?”

Needless to say he was thoroughly embarrassed. I think it’s a cute story though.

What do you think: Do you think intentional fake-out proposals are cute or cruel?
