You’re Engaged! 5 Reasons to be Thankful for in November

With all the stress of wedding planning that comes with the initial proclamation of “YES!” sometimes it’s easy to get overwhelmed and lose sight of what you should really be thankful for as a newly engaged lady with a sparkly new ring.

1 – You now get to have a professional photo shoot with your man

Sure, you’ll eventually get wedding pictures taken, but let’s be honest—how many uses will you have for such fancy photos? This is your chance to get a professional photo shoot in normal clothes—great for Christmas cards, wall art, Facebook, the whole deal! Plus you get to do that classic pose showing off your new ring. If that doesn’t make you feel like a model, I don’t know what does.

2 – You have an instant ice breaker with other engaged/married women

The older you get, the more making friends with other women will become a lot like dating. As you guys go off on double dates and try to connect with other engaged/married couples, if you’re ever worried about a lull in the conversation, ask about her ring, show her yours and ask about proposal stories. Instant ice breaker.

3 – You have a free pass out of awkward family conversation at Thanksgiving

I don’t know about you, but nothing’s worse than Aunt Ida nagging about babies and marriage for the umpteenth time and warning about the life of a cat lady and stale eggs. Avoid the awkward by showing off your ring! You may still get some uncomfortable kisses from a bearded aunt, but at least it’s a step up.

4 – You can make rainbows

Let’s be honest, you don’t have to be six to love rainbows. Whether you’re on a long car trip or at a boring meeting, nothing brings instant joy quite like the light hitting your ring a certain way and shooting rainbows everywhere.  Enjoy it while the novelty is new!

5 – It’s a physical symbol of your relationship’s love and commitment

Remember all those dates you went on or wondered if your man loved you just as much as you loved him. Well now your worry is over because every time you doubt creeps into your mind you can look down and know he’s committed. He wants to marry you and you have the rock to prove it.
