2016 NEW ENGAGEMENT RING TREND

I have seen many times a meme saying “I want a smaller diamond… said no woman ever.” Well whoever wrote this is wrong… or working in the diamond industry. In many countries such as France and Japan, women want a beautiful flawless diamond yet are uncomfortable wearing an engagement ring with a center that’s above 0.70 carat. This trend is catching on in the US with celebrities such as Amanda Seyfried and millennials who do not want an ostentatious ring. New designers have been at the forefront of this trend with the daintiest and prettiest ring designs that are meant to be stacked with bands on the days you want a little bit more oompf.

EF 12-14-15Blanca Monrós Gómez is originally from Spain and now lives in Brooklyn where she designs  and hand-makes her jewelry. All her pieces are sustainable using recycled stones and metal. The ring I picked from her collection is so pretty! I like the asymmetry and the combination of a rose cut center with brilliant cut accents.

How unique and mesmerizing is this salt and pepper pear-shaped diamond? It is set in a bezel on top of a gold band with pave accents. Designed by Rosedale Fine Jewelry.

I was talking about Japan in my intro and this is where this ring is coming from. The Kataoka Jewelry collection is available in fine jewelry stores in the US and online. I am sincerely overwhelmed by the beauty of this Diamond Snowflake ring. It’s an Objet d’Art indeed!

My final pick is this alternative set by Elisa Solomon. The picture features marquise-shape opals but she also makes these rings with white diamonds.
