Groundhog Day Proposal Ideas

This may be an obscure holiday that not many people pay attention to, but I’ve always loved the concept of Groundhog Day. I mean, six more weeks of winter or spring, which will it be? Funny thing is, there are quite a few ways to get creative with your proposal for this! Here are three ideas.

1. Morning Wake-up Call. Groundhog Day is on a Monday this year (February 2nd). Surprise your sweetie by showing up at her place or waking early and preparing her breakfast. Watch the ceremony on the TV together and after Phil has seen his shadow or not, ask her if she’ll not only spend those six weeks of [insert season here] with you, but the rest of her life. Talk about a great way to start the week!

2. Movie Night. Spend the evening cozied in whether you’re expecting more spring or winter and watch the classic Groundhog Day movie starring Bill Murray. When he’s talking to the character Annie while she’s sleeping, expressing his love to her and the fact that he’d love to spend the rest of his life with her, take that opportunity to pause the movie and do the same, but with that ring you bought her!

3. Winter or Spring. Watch the Groundhog Day events in the morning to find out if you’re expecting spring or winter. Whichever season it may be, surprise your sweetie with her house decorated in fake snowflakes or flowers, or give her a basket full of goodies for the upcoming season. Expecting winter? Buy her some new gloves, cocoa, ice scraper– anything that’s appropriate for where you live and she may be needing. What about spring? Buy her some new sunglasses, Easter candy (trust me, you’ll be able to find some), and a bouquet of flowers! Whichever you decide to do, make sure to work that ring and proposal into the mix!

Are you hoping for more winter or an early spring?
