Your eco-friendly engagement ring!

So we already talked about all those celebrities wearing eco-friendly engagement rings. But what about getting your own eco-friendly engagement ring?

Well, if the ring has been in the family for generations, then you have to admit, this type of “recycling” can only be good for the planet. What’s wrong with using your great grandmother’s diamond? After all, diamonds are not here  to sleep in jewelry box for decades! No need to take the risk of buying a new diamond which could be  damaging our lovely (but already in bad shape) planet.

Oh, but wait, not every one of us has access to those diamonds passed on from generation to generation! So what over options are left? Let’s see… If it’s an old diamond you are looking for, there is still the option of buying a vintage engagement ring! ( Check out the amazing buying guide to Antique/Vintage diamond engagement ring!) I’m sure you’ll find one you love on Ebay or something… Or who knows, ask around, maybe your next door neighbor is dying to sell this old stone that’s seating there in a sock drawer.

But sometimes, a girl’s best friend need to be unique and designed exclusively for her. If you have been dreaming of the perfect ring all your life and can’t seem to be satisfied with those old fashioned cuts, there is still the man-made diamond. It’s amazing what humans can do! They recreated the molecular structure of those precious stones… in a lab! Check out MiaDonna gallery of diamond engagement rings!

Fake diamonds? (Well, they are real as they actually exist but… you know what I mean). The idea of a synthetic engagement ring might sound a little weird for some of us. I found out that a company named Brilliant Earth offers what they call “conflict free” diamonds. What does that mean? Well, most of their diamonds are from Canada and a few of them from Africa, but every single one of those stones are tracked to make sure that they come from ethical and environmentally responsible sources as well as helping with the local economic development.
