Apple Picking Proposal Ideas

Have you ever gone to an apple orchard? Clark and I are coming up on our six-year anniversary and it’s something we’ve done since our first year of marriage. I don’t think we’ve skipped a year yet.

There’s something that brings in the fall about apple picking. After all, fall begins all the apple deliciousness– apple pie, apple butter, apple turnovers… I think you get my point. So what better way to propose than at a romantic spot apple picking? Here are my three suggestions!

1. Visit an orchard. This may seem redundant, but I just wanted to make sure you got the point! Look up a local orchard (or somewhere not so local for a “B&B” type get away) and make a day out of it. Take lots of pictures, enjoy the sights, take advantage of all it has to offer. Whenever the time is right for you, pull out that ring. You could even position it on a tree branch or in the bucket you’re putting your apples in, but make sure she’s paying attention if you do that!

2. Romantic hayride, anyone? This depends on what your orchard has to offer, but many offer hayrides, horseback riding, or some kind of way to see the sites (tractor ride, anyone?). Whatever it is, do it. This may present the perfect opportunity to get all mushy-gusy-pda-couple and propose!

3. Corn Maze, Bonfire, or Local Music. My favorite apple orchard is in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina on the Blue Ridge Parkway (see the picture– that’s me and the hubby in 2010). Not only do they offer hayrides, but they also have local regularly. They will post a schedule at the beginning of apple-picking season. So, do your research (again)! Some orchards offer corn mazes (nothing like running through some corn to get in the mood for a proposal) or even bonfires in the evenings (get cozy and warm before popping the question)!

Really, it’s all about atmosphere. But what girl doesn’t love an adventurous/romantic getaway? Happy picking!
