Amanda & Dylan
How They Met
We met 5 years ago working on an organic farm which happened to be on a convent, on Long Island. Yes… I met my husband in a convent!
The Proposal
We were at a Farmer’s Conference in Western Massachusetts. It was Groundhog’s Day and Dylan insisted we go on a winter hike on the Trail around Puffer’s Pond in Amherst, where I went to college. We stopped to canoodle and agreed we were both very happy. I was shocked when Dylan got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I met him on the ground and we just hugged as I cried and said, “I had no idea!”
The Engagement Session
Our Engagement session with Robert Norman took place on our farm, Town Farm. We felt it meant a great deal to us to take such wonderful photos on the farm we built.
The Engagement Ring
The ring was designed by Dylan in complete secrecy from me! My best friend and Maid of Honor is a jeweler and she and one of his sister’s helped him look, but he made the final call to design the ring himself. I suggest to future proposers, always get the best friend involved. It is a bonding opportunity for you and your future wife’s best friend which I thought was very sweet.
The ring was not quite like any other I had seen. As soon as I realized what was happening I really looked at the ring and thought, “He knew what I wanted more than I did.” It is an oval diamond, a little over a carat, surrounded by pave diamonds in a circular setting and a pave band on all sides. Joseph, a jeweler from Port Washington, NY made a beautiful, customized ring.
