A Bollywood Music Video Proposal

Michelle & Gandhi

How they met

“We met at a salsa dance social. We continued to be friends for eight months and found out we had a lot in common, like traveling, dining, going to horror movies, etc. and then we started dating.”

The Proposal

“Gandhi said he was taking me to one of his friend’s Indian play and asked me to dress up in my sari. My dad and step mom were joining us. Gandhi said he was running late from work so he asked my dad and step mom to pick me up. When we showed up at the theater, the usher greeted me outside and said that the play had already started so he had to bring me in quietly through a side door. As I stepped in, the theater was dark, so he used a flashlight to guide us to our seats.

Then a film started playing and within a few minutes I recognized Gandhi in the film and realized that this was going to be my proposal. He made a short film/music video of himself dancing to our favorite song (Lumineers “Ho Hey”) and also incorporated a Bollywood dance after that. The whole film was a story about his undying love for me.

Once the film ended, he showed up on stage, expressed his love to me and my family, then walked toward me and bent down on his knee. During this time the theater was still dark but showed a spotlight on us. He asked me to marry him and of course I said yes! After he proposed, he walked me up on stage and said he had one more surprise. When I got up and looked out into the dark audience, the lights turned on, revealing about 30 of our close friends and family. What a wonderful and unforgettable experience that was!”
