How they met

I remember the first time I saw Hele, and I’m sure everyone we worked with at the time can recall as well. I never believed in Love at first sight until this point, I swear. It was august 2006. I had not yet came out to my family, just some friend. When I saw her I didn’t know how or when but I knew I was going to marry her. As for Hele she didn’t even notice me! I was under the impression she was a player after a while. We gained mutal friends and then eventually became friends.  Our relationship grew over the course of 6 years from acquaintances to best friends to girlfriends and soon to be Wives.

The Proposal

We took a big step in our relationship in 2010 and moved from small town Odessa, Texas to Los Angeles, California. Hele was raised in southern California and wanted to move back. I was raised in Odessa and never even been to Cali but I did it! I wanted to move forward with her by my side. Six months in to living in Cali I felt this huge sense of happiness. I can’t really explain the feeling. I called our best friend Valerie in Texas and told her I was going to propose. I was so nervous looking for the ring by myself I was shaking. When I found the right ring I went to her father and showed him and told him I wanted to ask for her hand in marriage (yes, the old fashioned way.) and he was excited. I took Hele to our favorite Beach in Newport Beach, California at sunset on August 28th  2010 onto the bluff at Corona Del mar state Beach, got down on one knee and proposed. She said YES and cried.
