Videogame Proposal Fad

Just as flash mobs tend to be “typical” for proposals, it seems more and more guys are choosing to propose via internet or technology.

When Daniel learned that his girlfriend’s favorite game producers had developed a game where you can create your own stories to play with your friends, he seized the opportunity and used it to his advantage. Only it wasn’t just to play together– it was for a proposal.

Here Daniel and Dolores are, sitting down and supposedly testing out this new, brilliant game when all of a sudden the character on the screen is unlocking a chest, finding a ring, and being proposed to… on screen. Just in time, Daniel drops from his chair to his knees and almost shoves the ring at Dolores.

I’m not sure how I feel about this. Don’t get me wrong. This was beautiful, and I’m so happy for the couple. But I just don’t know if I would want to be proposed to this way.

I mean, if you’re big gamers and that’s something you enjoy together, then sure. This also goes for YouTube videos or even if most of your relationship has been through Skype. But something about it seems to take away from the moment for me. I mean, shouldn’t a proposal be intimate? Yes, it’s creative… but do you really want a screen doing the work for you? What do you think?
