Oscars Outdoors is an event in Hollywood where Academy Award winners are played. On July 20, after a screening of Big, Alex surprised Lauren with a completely different screening.

It may not have won any Academy Awards, but boy did this pull on everyone’s heartstrings there. After seeing childhood pictures, pictures of the couple, and short videos from family, Alex came on the screen himself to address Lauren before turning it over to “real Alex”.

When he took her hands in his and started talking, I admittedly was watching saying, “You better drop to one knee.” Now, I know men don’t have to, and some women may find it cliche… but, I mean… is it really a proposal if he isn’t kneeling in some sort of fashion? OK, OK… yes, it is. But my old romantic heart just wants to see that moment where he bends to one knee, pulls out the ring, and asks her the classic question. Thank goodness Alex won me over (at 6:25, in case you want to skip ahead).

I love that she shouts, “YES!” In most public proposals they have to relay that the sobbing female did, in fact, accept the proposal. Not in this one! Lauren enthusiastically lets all the on-lookers know that her man is truly off the market for good.
