A couple was mortified when they realized their beautiful four layer chocolate wedding cake was just a chunk of polystyrene with icing on top. The couple didn’t discover this fact until they tried to cut the cake in the middle of the ceremony.
“It was a terrible shock,” the bride told The Sun. “I felt so embarrassed in front of all our family and friends.”
The couple purchased the cake from a local bakery called Creative Cakes. But four hours before the reception, the couple found out the bakery forgot to make the cake. The bakery admitted their mistake and rushed over later that evening and placed the fake cake on a display table. Unbeknownst to the wedding couple, the bakery left a real sponge cake at the hotel reception. By then, it was too late. The couple was already trying to devour a fake cake.
After the wedding, the couple took Creative Cakes to small claims court and was rewarded $513.
In defense of the baker, she told The Sun: “I explained I would be delivering an artificial cake – they are quite common at weddings these days. I offered them a refund so there was no reason to take me to the Small Claims Court.”
The bride, though, still wasn’t satisfied. The bride said, “We could have asked for compensation for cutting the cake in front of all our guests but we wouldn’t be able to put a figure on that.”
I actually think the couple overreacted. I highly doubt the guests pointed and laughed during the cake cutting. How would you have reacted?
