A Perfect Day for a Snow Engagement Session

Kacy & Zach

How They Met

We met when we were attending elementary school together.  Our parents would go up to Bucks Lake, California for every New Year’s Eve and Day to spend the holiday there snowmobiling with family friends.  We didn’t truly become close until we were in high school together playing sports.  We started dating in high school when Zach was a senior and I was a sophomore… 15 and 17 years old.

The Proposal

Since there was no snow in California this past New Year’s, we did not travel to the mountains like usual to celebrate.  So, we decided we’d go out to our friends’ parties instead. We both got ready and as we were about to walk out the door, Zach told me, “I had this big event planned to do this in the snow, and as you can see it just hasn’t snowed this year.  I know how important this day is to you and me, and I’d love for you to show this ring off to everyone tonight.  Kacy Lynn Wiley, will you marry me?”

The Engagement Session

First off, we love snowmobiling, so we knew we always would want snow engagement pictures. One of our favorite places to snowmobile together is in Jonesville, California, also known as Butte Meadows. We knew it would be the perfect place to take them.

The Engagement Ring

Zach and I had previously looked at rings earlier to get an idea of what we were both looking into.  We had no idea where to start, so we went to a local store to get information.  They asked us if we had heard of Tacori, and we really hadn’t, I had only seen pictures in magazines.  They told us it was made in the USA and in California, and they proceeded to explain that Tacori’s designer’s kids went to California State University, Chico.  With us being both alumni of Chico State, we were sold.  After we left that day, we had my ring size and what important facts to get started with.  I knew I wanted a 3-stone ring to resemble my mother’s wedding ring, and I also wanted an emerald cut, because I was born in May and I didn’t like the emerald color, but loved the cut.  So Zach went from there with those two ideas.  He found a perfect ring matching those two descriptions.

The Photographers

Amy and Dusty from Drozian Photoworks

“We are high school sweethearts who have been photographing couples and capturing the love they feel for over 8 years. We believe that our photography should be more than just pictures of two people. It should convey all the energy, excitement, and passion that our brides and grooms feel leading up to their wedding day. “
