3 do’s and a don’t for birthday proposals

It’s my birthday today, so in the spirit of all things cake, presents and getting old, I thought a birthday-themed post was in order. Now this is a sticky issue with many people. To propose on a girl’s birthday or not? Well, my friends. There is always a right and a wrong way to do things. Here are a few tips on how to propose effectively on your lady’s special day.

1) Get her a gift that helps you propose (hint: NOT THE RING)
Let’s be honest, if you call your engagement ring her birthday gift, you’re not scoring any points. So get her a gift any tie it in with the proposal. Check out this guy here. He buys his girlfriend a digital picture frame and tells her all the pictures are already on it. He asks her to watch all of them and at the very end, a picture pops up of him holding the ring with the words “Will You Marry Me?” Before it registers, he’s already down on one knee. Skip ahead to 3:43 to check it out.

2) Switch it up and propose on YOUR birthday
Sure, it makes sense you’d want to propose on her birthday. After you want to make it special for her. But propose on YOUR birthday and she’ll be completely caught off guard. Plus you can make it sound like all you want for your birthday is a “Yes.”

3) Make a romantic day out of it and then surprise her at the end
This guy takes his lady out for a romantic picnic and day, then runs off to surprise her with her birthday present that she knew was coming: A PUPPY! Then, last minute, he proposes. Talk about a day filled with tons of surprises.

DON’T PUT THE RING ON THE CAKE. Hello. Chocking Hazard?
