Judge orders woman to return engagement ring despite fiance’s infidelity

gavel-court-judgeHigh school sweethearts Danielle Cavalieri and John Gunther dated for nine years and were set to marry in 2009, but unfortunately the couple broke it off a year before their wedding date.

Since the break up, Cavalieri has moved on, found a new fiance and is set to marry him October 2009. But there was still one thing from her former fiance that she would not let go of — her $19,000 engagement ring.

Cavalieri argued that she had the right to keep the engagement ring because Gunther cheated on her. But after holding on to the ring for over a year and a half, a judge finally ordered the Long Island woman to return the engagement ring, according to The New York Post.

The judge ruled that “fault in the breakup of an engagement is irrelevant” and by law the ring must be returned.

What do you think? Should you keep the engagement ring if he cheated?
