Groupon and Facebook Proposal
When it comes to online proposals there’s a thin line between being clever and just being lazy. Below we give our verdict on two recent internet proposals, one that took place on Groupon and another that took place on Facebook. Which one did we like and which one did we think was kind of lame? Find out below:
Groupon Proposal
Groupon is a site where people can find the latest deals from all over the country. A man named Greg from Cincinnati posted the following “deal” on the website. The deal, titled “A surprise for a Dana from a Greg,” offered a surprise if you purchased the deal for $1. Once purchased, the site takes you to a page that says, “Congratulations Dana or Stranger, you are now unofficially obliged to marry Greg!” Considering the page only lists one buyer, we’re guessing Dana said yes.
Verdict: Clever After all, we can’t say it’s ever been done before.
Facebook Proposal
There has actually been several Facebook proposals throughout the year, but this is the most recent one. The above screenshot was taken from BuzzFeed. “Beeze” seemed a bit startled that “D” chose Facebook to propose, but she says yes nonetheless.
Verdict: Tacky. You should at least try to make an effort when you propose.
Vivica A. Fox's Engagement Ring
The 46-year-old actress got engaged to Atlanta club promoter Omar “Slim” White over the holidays, according to Page Six. Omar popped the question with a gorgeous 8-carat engagement ring that the actress happily flashed at an event December 30. Judging by photos, the ring has a brilliant cut center stone with a channel setting. Check out more info about the engagement ring below:

Kirk Kara Featured on My Fair Wedding
Our friends over at Kirk Kara made a surprise appearance on the premiere episode of WEtv’s My Fair Wedding on Sunday. In the episode, Grace Terezian from Kirk Kara stops by to help bride Joanne pull off her dream wedding by bringing plenty of gorgeous jewelry into the mix. Check out a sneak peak below. Editor-in-chief Severine Ferrari Talks Engagement Ring Trends
Last week our very own Severine Ferrari was interviewed in the National Post about upcoming engagement ring trends. Ferrari explains in the article how the web is the new way modern brides-to-be find their engagement ring and discover new, exciting ring trends. Ferrari says the biggest trends so far have been colored gemstones, fancy cuts and other styles that deviate from the traditional solitaire.
“It’s all about having something that another girl doesn’t have,” she told the publication. “The problem with solitaires is that they don’t make you feel as special. The more detailed, ornate rings are about being differentiated.”
Reese Witherspoon's Engagement Ring
When Jim Toth proposed to Reese Witherspoon he went with a unique choice for the engagement ring — an ashoka cut. The rare cut isn’t a name you usually see around this site, and its rarity is exactly what makes it so special. So what is an ashoka cut?
Similar to the cushion cut, the ashoka cut is a rectangular shape with rounded corners and has 62 facets. The scarcity of extra-long rough diamonds makes the cut extremely rare and one-of-a-kind. Reese’s engagement ring, made my jeweler William Goldberg, has a 4-carat center stone that sits on a dainty pave band, similar to the ring below.

A Proposal in Bryant Park

On their six month anniversary, Jamie and Chris got engaged in Bryant Park during the December 2 Christmas tree lighting ceremony. Jamie wrote about the whole experience on her blog:
And that’s when I saw him pull a ring box out from behind his back. That’s when he got down on one knee. And that’s when he asked “Will you marry me?” while flashing me a beautiful 1 carat cushion cut diamond, flanked with 10 pavé cut diamonds on either side of the platinum band, and engraved with our own initials.
I don’t know how much time passed, but my reaction went as such. “WHAT?! WHAT?!” It took all I had to process what was going on. To put 2 and 2 together and notice that the “friend” we had met up with was in fact a professional photographer. And to respond to his second question of “Is that a yes?” with a reply of “Of course!”

Santa Helps With Surprise Marriage Proposal
Check out this adorable Christmas-themed proposal. Couple Jonathan Nguyen and Jenny Hoang from California had help from an unlikely source when they got engaged on Sunday. Jenny, who thought she was having a normal day taking her friend’s kids to see Santa, was shocked when Santa suddenly waved her over. “Jenny,” Santa said, according to The Orange County Register. “You have been very good this year. I have a special gift for you.” Jonathan, who had been planning the proposal for months, came out of hiding with a gorgeous ring box in his hand. He got down on one knee and proposed. Jenny slid off Santa’s lap and screamed as she said yes.
“He makes my world. He is my world,” she said afterward to the local publication. “Oh my gosh, I love him so much. I was just like, ‘What? What!?’ ”

Tony Romo is Engaged
Dallas Cowboys’ Tony Romo got engaged to girlfriend Candice Crawford yesterday. According to TMZ, the football player proposed on Candice’s 24th birthday. Tony used to date Jessica Simpson before their split in 2009.
