How far would you go for your engagement ring?

Apparently a Florida man went waist deep in filth to salvage his lady’s engagement ring earlier this month. Sure, they’re already married but when Brian McGuinn accidentally threw out his wife’s $10,000 engagement ring, he knew he would stop at nothing to get it back.

Anna McGuinn handed her hubby her sparkly rock when she went to the shower. Somehow, her man threw it out with a disposable razor. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the garbage had already been picked up by the time they realized it.

The local garbage processing plant helped the couple out by suiting up Brian with a protective vest, goggles– the works. He then went into an area where the ring “most likely” would be.

Talk about looking for a needle in a haystack!

“It was absolutely disgusting. It stunk beyond belief. The smell was God-awful. Everything unsanitary you could think of crossed my path at least a couple times. I took an extraordinarily long shower and toothbrushes were used,” Brian told the Sun Sentinel.

Luckily for this couple, they found the ring! But the moral of this story? Get engagement ring insurance (calling my own fiance right NOW).

But what do you think? How far would you go to retrieve something as special as an engagement ring?

A proposal straight from the movies

Every girl wants that movie-like moment. The big screen does make romance look pretty appealing and 10-times more magical than real life ever does. For this couple, the groom-to-be wanted to create that magic for his girlfriend Katie.

Apparently she loves the movie 10 Things I Hate About You (then again, who doesn’t). So this guy decides to recreate the scene where Heath Ledger’s character, Patrick, tries to win over Kat by singing to her in the football stand. It was quite the adorable effort. And according to this Youtube description, quite a lot of work went into the planning of it. He spent months trying to slyly convince her to raise money for her dance team by selling Monsters (that’s how he gets her down by the field) and to top it all off, he also flew in special family and hid them in the stands so they could be there for the big question.

It’s definitely a beautiful moment– even better than the movies, in my opinion.

What do you think: If you could have a proposal based off of a movie, what would be? (Mine would be The Princess Bride).

Stanley Tucci engaged because of The Devil Wears Prada

Stanley Tucci is now engaged!

Tucci is known for his amazing performance in The Devil Wears Prada as Nigel (by far one of my favorite movies!). So, it’s only fitting that his new fiancé came through a DWP connection as well.

Tucci is engaged to Felicity Blunt, sister to Emily Blunt—the actress who played the assistant Emily in The Devil Wears Prada.

“Emily loved Stanley on the set of Devil, and just thought they would hit it off, so she set them up,” a source told US Weekly.

The same source also touched on how it has been difficult for Tucci to get into a new relationship after his wife’s passing. Tucci lost his wife to cancer in 2009. However, Felicity is “a lovely person and very warm and comforting,” the source said.

The pair announced their relationship NOT on Twitter (thank goodness!). But rather, they stepped out together last Tuesday night at a New York after party for Rampart. Tucci introduced Felicity as his fiancé to stars such as Ben Stiller and showed off the sparkly.

Congrats to the happy couple!

What do you think: Have you ever been “set up” and have it bloom into a lasting relationship?

Nikki and Paul exchanged TACORI wedding bands and a custom-created engagement ring.

Paul McDonald’s wedding band is made of yellow gold with a rustic hand-hammered finish. It was completely custom designed by the bride and groom.  Nikki’s wedding ring is also made of yellow gold with diamond swags and diamond touches throughout.

Nikki and Paul opted to keep the existing heirloom ring that he proposed with as an “engagement ring,” which she wore throughout their engagement.  However, they decided to create an ALL NEW engagement ring, co-designed with TACORI, which replaced the heirloom engagement ring on their Wedding Day.  She now wears the heirloom ring on her right hand as a special ring, and her new ring is worn as her engagement ring.  It features three major diamonds set within Platinum, with vintage touches, and the body of the ring is made of yellow gold to match their wedding bands.

Jessica Simpson enjoys just being engaged

When a girl gets engaged, one of the first things she thinks about is her wedding dress.

Well, not all girls, apparently. Jessica Simpson, who got engaged last year to fiancé Eric Johnson, has not gone wedding dress shopping yet! Say what?!

In fact, she said in her Lucky magazine interview that by the time the December issue comes out (which she’ll be the cover girl for), they still wouldn’t have tied the knot. Pretty funny considering nearly EVERYONE thought the couple would get married right away.

“We’re just enjoying being engaged right now, and that’s honest,” Simpson said.

She’s also expecting their first child and embracing her beautiful body as it changes. So maybe she’ll hold off on the wedding dress until after the baby? Regardless, I love how she’s being an inspiration by not obsessing over being stick thin.

But there’s something to be said about enjoying just being engaged, and I think Simpson makes a valid point. How many brides-to-be rush through their engagement, making themselves miserable with over-stressing about wedding planning? I know I’ve been guilty.

What do you think: How should one “enjoy” their time being engaged?

Real paparazzi pictures of your engagement week-end?

“You have plan the perfect proposal. Now let us ‘”pap” the question for you.” says former paparazzi James Ambler who created Pap the Question. James used to be a celebrity paparazzo. He decided to create a business offering his expertise to young men about to propose. Look at how cool this proposal turned out.

Pap the Question recorded Michelle and Ono’s entire engagement weekend, from the couple getting of the plane to a magical flash mob proposal in Central Park in New York City, and never did she suspect anything!

Frankie Muniz is now engaged to his publicist. Muniz popped the question to Elycia Marie Turnbow after four years of dating earlier last week.

And of course, it was announced via Twitter!

The happy no-longer-bachelor tweeted:  “After 4 years together, I’m so happy to be ENGAGED to the love of my life @ElyciaMarie!!!”

Muniz, who we all know as our loveable Malcolm from Malcolm in the Middle, was even congratulated via tweet by his former, on-TV father. Bryan Cranston jokingly tweeted:  “Frankie’s engaged! I imagine Elycia’s father will give her away… I tried to give Malcolm away for seven years – but there were no takers.”

Muniz is currently pursuing his race car driving career, and despite a rough patch the couple faced earlier this year, the two have moved on and are very happy together. According to Us Magazine, the couple plans to set a date for some time in six months.

Congrats to the happy couple!

What do you think: How cool would it be to marry your publicist? Even if your significant other is mad at you, they’re still paid to make you look good!
