Wonderful Military Propoposals

Let’s be honest. A proposal no matter who is doing the proposing is one of the most romantic events anyone has ever experienced. However, throw in the long distance and worry of a military relationship (and the stunning look of a military uniform), and for some reason, that proposal has gained even more points on the tear jerker scale. There’s nothing quite like reuniting and then getting proposed to.

Sometimes less is more when it comes to popping the big question. Check out how this reunion at an airport turns life-changing when a bystander hands the military man his special box.

Reuniting is always beautiful. But those reunion clips you see on TV where the person doesn’t even know their military man or woman is back from overseas– man, do they get me every time. This girl was definitely caught by surprise when she’s in the middle of winning a pageant when her boyfriend returns from Iraq to propose.

Would you surprise your fiance-to-be with a proposal after not seeing them for so long?

Three ways to set the scene on a budget

When you spend tons of money on a ring, you’re not going to want to propose in some ho-hum place like the Walmart parking lot or next to a dumpster. You’re going to want the scenery to match the mood and the mood needs to be a big, honking “YES!” So, got big dreams but a small wallet? Never fear. Here are three ways to set the scene you want and your lady deserves, without having to take out another loan.

1) If you want to propose at a castle…
I know a girl who’s fiance flew her all the way to Ireland where he proposed romantically atop of a castle. AMAZING, right? Well not every guy has that sort of cash. Understandable and no one faults you for it either. But that doesn’t mean your lady has to be without the castle she’s dreamed of since she was a little girl.  If you have some cash to spare, proposing near the Disney castle will suffice for many ladies. Another even more romantic option? Build it yourself like this guy below.

2) If you want to propose at a fancy restaurant…
Nothing says romance like a fancy, candlelit dinner at a restaurant that costs so much, your wallet is already crying before you hand the valet your keys. Sure, it’s a nice touch, but necessary? Not in the least. If you want to treat your lady to a fancy dinner just for her to set the mood, you have some options. You could decorate your apartment nice with candles and a fancy tablecloth and cook yourself (always an impressive move) or get the workers at your favorite (non-budget breaking)  restaurant to do something extra special for you two. She’ll definitely feel like she’s at a 5 star establishment during the moment when you go the extra mile to make it special.

3) If you want to propose in a completely outlandish way…
Sure, you want your lady to see fireworks the moment you propose, but does that mean you should go out and hire a bunch of people to set the night sky ablaze? Probably not. Look for local things that are happening in your area that you could piggy back off of. If you want fireworks, look for an event with fireworks and propose around then. Want her name written in the sky with a huge jet or blimp? Scale down to something nice like a sign on a building or random people holding it as you walk by. Just because its smaller doesn’t mean it’s not special. The effort is what matters.

What do you think: Do you need a lot of money to propose?

Three ways to tell your love story

Guys sometimes get labeled as not paying attention to the details. So, when a guy somehow conveys his own perspective of the couple’s love story, girls instantly melt into the perfect “yes!” the guy is hoping for. Here are some great ways to tell your love story to your lady before popping the question.

1) Make a book
Nothing says story book love like an actual story book. Gather old photos together, make an album or scrapbook and just have at it. If your lady loves princesses, do it in the format of a fairy tale starting with a “Once Upon a Time…” and ending with the ring! Or, get extra sentimental and leave the last chapter blank, get down on one knee, and ask her to write the chapter together by moving onto this new chapter in your lives. She’ll love it!

2) Make a video montage
This is a super sweet way to tell a story. You’ll need to gather some pictures, maybe even some home videos, and edit together in a perfect film complete with great music and even some written narration. She’ll love watching the good memories flash before her eyes AND she’ll have it forever to share on Youtube and Facebook. Check out this guy’s video below!

3) Re-enact it
Now this is cute, especially if you have a lot of family and friends who’d love to get involved. Have some kind of show and give each people parts. You don’t even have to tell her the story is about the two of you. Let her figure it out on her own. Then in the middle of the performance, pop the question! She’ll think it’s super sweet and creative.

What do you think? How would you tell your love story?

Children flash mob proposal

Do something enough times and it becomes boring, cliche and just unoriginal. Unfortunately there are some proposals that are just that. Hello awkward Jumbotron and flash mobs. However, the REALLY creative groom-to-be will put his own spin on his proposal, making it unique to just the two of them (and extra super cool so it gets more hits on Youtube).

This gent did just that. He organized a flash mob of all little girls. Yes. Little girls. An adorable, all-children flash mob just started dancing. It was one of those things you never see. Sure, adults will join flash mobs all the time. But little girls? That’s a bit different.

He organized it so that it would happen while he was out and about with his lady. So when it did occur, she of course whipped out her camera and started filming like the rest of the bystanders.

At the end of the second song, two little girls run up to him and pull him into the group as if trying to get him to dance with them. He tries (and fails hysterically), but at the end of the song, he points to his lady and she definitely gets the picture.

It was perfect. You’ll have to check it out for yourself.

What do you think? What’s a way to make an old-tired proposal into something unique?

Three ways to tell if your guy really put effort into your proposal

Sure, asking a question is easy. All you have to do is ask. And let’s be honest– for many girls, just asking is completely amazing and sufficient enough. But want to know if your guy is really trying hard to pull off the perfect proposal? These are the signs to look for.

1) He does something he doesn’t ordinarily do
It’s one thing for your guy to serenade you if he’s a singer. But if your prince charming has a voice that’s more Joe Shmo and yet he decides to sing you an entire production of basically   “Your Proposal: the Musical,” you know he must love you a lot. Check out this guy’s embarrassing proposal. Very sweet, yes. Great singing, nope.

2) He thinks outside the box
If your guy does something different, then you know he put some thought into it. Even if it’s an overdone flashmob proposal or maybe a proposal via the Internet, at least you know he’s trying.

3) He messes up his words or starts to sweat
If your guys starts getting nervous during his proposal– even if it’s during just a romantic walk or quaint picnic– then you know he’s putting forth an effort. Because let’s face it, sometimes even asking a woman those words is harder than organizing a dance routine.

What do you think? How much effort should a guy put into his proposal?

Six Disney Princess inspired proposals

I just finished watching one my favorite Disney movies tonight with my cousin (“Tangled” of course), and it hit me at the very end. It hit me like a ton of bricks. The truth is, you never really ever see the prince propose to the princess in most of the movies. Usually there’s a moment like a kiss or a shoe or some big moment, but then you cut straight to the wedding scene. Anyone else notice this?

How is it that one of the most romantic moments of someone’s life is never really portrayed by Disney Princesses?

Well luckily, even though Disney has dropped the ball on this one, many men have taken their inspiration from their ladies’ favorite Disney princess movies and made proposals that were fabulous.

Cinderella:
At around 2:30 he says “Well even though the shoe doesn’t fit, maybe this will…” Totally melt my heart why don’t ya?

Beauty and the Beast:
He takes her to the “real” Belle’s library. Her breath is already taken away by the site of the books and then….

Aladdin:
This guy dresses up like Aladdin, sings like Aladdin and then somehow gets dancers and a huge slideshow. Maybe a magic genie helped him out.

The Little Mermaid:
He takes her out on romantic paddle boat ride and then sings a few bars (a little badly but good in a cute way) of that Little Mermaid song “Kiss the Girl” then they pass near a bridge where a guitar player is singing that same song. Coincidence? Nope.

Snow White:
He takes his lady and her step children to see a live Snow White show, but at the very end, declares to the audience that he found his “own Snow White.”

Tangled/Repunsel:
Not only does this Prince sing that special song to his lady, he has one of those LANTERNS. YES!

What do you think: Are Disney Princess proposals awesome or too little kiddie?

5 ways to accidentally insult the girl during the proposal

Our men. We love them. They’re sweet. They mean well. But sometimes their tongues get the best of them. If there are any guys out there reading this, take notes. You’re going to want to avoid this subtle, backhanded insults which can (and have been) uttered during the big moment.

1) You’re not who I expected to marry, but….
Seriously? It doesn’t matter how nice the other half of this sentence is. You lost her.

2) I sized the ring up since I heard people’s fingers swell when they gain weight the first year of marriage.
It may be romantic that you’re trying to think ahead. But this is an epic fail.

3) Oh…you wanted me to ask your dad’s permission first?
Whoops. Forgot something that was important to her? Big no-no. Find out what she dreams of happening pre-proposal to make sure you don’t offend anyone.

4)  You’re definitely the one I want to marry, even though you do that annoying thing where…
Not the time to bring up cute, quirky traits that drive you bonkers. You may think you’re being clever. She’s going to think you’re being a jerk.

5) Remember that time we did XYZ? I totally fell in love with you then (but it actually was with a different girl?!)
We know you’re nervous. But make sure you have the stories you want to mention planned out before you get down on one knee. Don’t be that guy who mixes up his ex girlfriends during this big moment.

What’s the dumbest thing you’ve ever said or had someone say to you?

Kelly Osbourne and Pamela Anderson Love Palladium!

Palladium was all over Las Vegas last weekend. Much lighter than platinum, Palladium is a great alternative when it comes to jewelry. Kelly Osbourne and Pamela Anderson are raving about the latest trend in Palladium jewelry!

Kelly Osbourne arrived at the Palladium Alliance International’s booth wearing a Jonathan Simkhai skirt, striped top and Giuseppe Zanotti heels in which she paired with Palladium earrings by Jacob & Co. and an exquisite Palladium necklace and rings.

The fashion expert explained that Palladium is always her go-to because it is so lightweight. She raved, “I’m a tomboy and I move around a lot, so I need jewelry that moves too!” Osbourne added, “I love big earrings, but I don’t want huge holes in my ears, so if I’m wearing big earrings, they’ve got to be Palladium!”

Kelly Osbourne perused the Palladium Jewelry collection including designs from Todd Reed and Sholdt, but what caught her eye was an amazing Palladium spider broach by Alishan stating, “Spiders are my biggest fear! But not this spider, I love this! Anything sparkly is my friend”. She was such a fan of the Palladium by Alishan design that she will be wearing it to the Miss USA Pageant where she will be a judge this weekend.

Also spotted at the Palladium Alliance International booth was actress Pamela Anderson. Anderson expressed her love for Palladium because it enables her to add statement pieces to her simple looks without feeling too weighed down. She explains that she always wears jewelry – even to the beach. When asking the ultimate beach babe what her must have accessory is she doesn’t hesitate to say belly chains stating, “I’m gonna make my next belly chain out of Palladium and I’m so excited!”
