Proposal Gone Wrong Results In “YES”
Ryan spent three months planning his perfect proposal. It would take place during a trip they took to a Mexican resort where they’d be the only couple on a pier for a sunset dinner.
Unfortunately, the hotel didn’t pull through on their end of the deal. Not only did everything go wrong (music playing at wrong time and wait staff scrambling for their dinner service), but they weren’t alone on the pier. Not only was it crowded, but the sunset view was blocked by a yacht with a man in a speedo standing on it.
Something happened where Ryan untied the yacht and then helped the speedo wearing man retie it. But by the end of the night (which they left their dinner early because it was so terrible), the Mexican police arrested him for “damaging” the yacht. He couldn’t believe it and had to rush to get his future wife to take his valuables so he didn’t have to take them with him into the jail. She reached into his coat like he asked and felt the ring. She gasped, pulling it from the safety pin that attached it to his inner coat and accidently dropped it off the pier and into the ocean as he was dragged away to jail.
Yeah. Talk about WORST CASE SCENARIO.
Turns out it all worked all right. He was let go and hotel apologized profusely and compensated them by putting the couple in the penthouse suite and offering to host their wedding and honeymoon for free. Luckily, Ryan is a SCUBA diver and was able to retrieve the ring and propose on the pier, in the dark, still soaked and wearing his wetsuit.
Of course she said “YES!” after all of that. And they’re actually considering taking the hotel up on their free wedding offer. One thing’s for sure. They deserve a drama free marriage after starting it off like that!

Will the Bachelor’s Engagement Last?
With the epic season of The Bachelor nearing yet another end, it’s hard not to get wrapped up in the drama with Sean Lowe and his chance at love. After all, People Magazine even touted that he was one of the best bachelor’s the show has ever had. Their reasoning? He seems genuine, he’s easily smitten, and he has a group of great ladies as co-stars.
And who doesn’t love all these crazy, larger-than-life dates Sean get’s to court his potential brides with? But as a magazine that lives for and celebrates engagements 24-7, we have to ask ourselves– is it real?
Sure, the show sure thinks so and rumor has it that Sean will indeed propose to a lovely lady in Thailand very soon. But let’s look at the track record here. Not many bachelor’s and bachelorettes have maintained their engagements from the show. The ABC program has been on the air for 10 years, featuring 24 different couples. Of those couples, only THREE have gotten married. And of those three, one couple actually wasn’t even the original winning couple (Jason Mesnik proposed to the runner up after dumping the initial winner on national TV. OUCH!).
So will Sean really find love? Only time will tell. For now, we’re just excited to see the rumored $76,000, 4.3 carat Neil Lane ring Life & Style has teased us about.
Do you think TV shows like the Bachelor work in finding true love OR are you just excited to see the ring too?

4 Ultimate Tips on How To Propose
It happens every year– the lull once the holiday rush ends. After the flurry of winter holidays ending with the big day of love this past month, things start to slow down. Sure, we still have holidays but St. Patty’s Day and Easter aren’t really big proposing moments (Though they can be cute. Blogs to come!). So what do you do in between the great holiday proposals and the cold weather is still lingering before Spring? Here are some ideas to help get your creative juices flowing.
1) Use a Common Hobby or Interest
Do you both love to go hiking? Did you meet at an artsy show or class? Are video games your life? Plan your proposal around something you both love or that is an integral part of your story.
2) Take Her on a Surprise Vacation/Weekend Getaway
Just because most vacations take place during the summer, that doesn’t mean you can’t have an extra special time away from your usual lives. Plus, this time of year there are usually deals at hotels, resorts and even cruises. It would be the perfect setting for the the perfect proposal.
3) Get the Family Involved
Flash mobs, special family dinners, and surprise visits from long-distance relatives– if she’s a family person, she’ll love it if you get her family involved. What’s even better is usually there’s a family member who can help with the coordination of the event and may even have a few ideas they know will work.
4) Make Up Your Own Holiday
So the holidays have passed and maybe you don’t even have a dating anniversary for a couple more months. Don’t let it get you down! Surprise her with a made-up holiday like “Super Beautiful Girlfriend Day” or “Most Fun Couple Day.” Make your own card, maybe even bake a cake and watch her enjoy every minute of your craziness.

Teacher Gets Proposed to on V-Day!
Of course tons of proposals occurred last week on the much beloved Valentine’s Day. So much so, that really the day should just be renamed National Proposal Day. What’s really interesting is how some proposals actually make the news.
Such was the case for this very loved teacher at a local elementary school in Wisconsin.
Apparently it was her own mother’s idea for the groom-to-be to surprise his future wife during an assembly at school. The lady, Kristin Zimmerman, is a first and second grade teacher at the school and was leading an assembly for students to talk about love and other Valentine’s Day related things. As she was talking in front of the whole school, her lovely gent came through the side door with a bouquet and ring in hand. Of course children screamed in joy and her entire school family got to share in the experience.
Would you propose in front a crowd that large?

Valentine’s Day Proposal Prank
While many happy love birds were busy getting engaged this past week, one couple decided it would be funny to go out and propose MULTIPLE times only to have the girl do the rejecting. I guess they thought it would be funny to make a bunch of onlookers uncomfortable. It actually is pretty funny. What’s even funnier is that this couple is actually a real couple whose quite in love.
What would you have done if you witnessed any of these this past Valentine’s Day? Hopefully your proposals went smoother than this.
Are You Ready For Valentine’s Day?
So you’re going to propose on Valentine’s Day, eh? It is the day of love so what could possibly go wrong? A lot. ESPECIALLY if you’re not prepared. So take a moment to read through our checklist to ensure your day goes off without a hitch.
1. Check the weather
Whether your proposal is outdoors or you just need to make sure your transportation is reliable, make sure to double check the weather and come up with a plan B. After all, nothing’s worse than a soggy bride-to-be.
2. Call your friends
If you have other people involved in executing your proposal or have given some people certain jobs, you need to call everyone the day before to make extra sure they know when and where they are supposed to be. Nothing is worse than someone thinking Valentine’s Day is Friday. Whoops!
3. Double check your reservations/tickets
If you’re going to a special restaurant, show or anything else that requires a ticket or reserved time, call ahead to double check. This is the busiest time of year for some places so mistakes can be made. You don’t want to be accidentally double booked at the restaurant you made a reservation a montha go.
4. Put the ring in a safe place
Sure, you got the ring the other day, but what if you accidentally put it in a coat pocket and forget which coat? Or you left it with a friend for safe keeping and they accidentally took it out for a joy ride (it happens, unfortunately)? This is the time to double check on the ring and take it to an extra safe spot– even if that means going to a bank and renting a safety deposit box (apparently my husband had to do that at one point when his keeper of the ring was caught showing it off to people at a party).
5. Reconfirm plans with your sweetheart
Whether she knows where to meet you or you plan to surprise her later in the day, it’s good to confirm her whereabouts and plans either with her specifically or a close friend/relative. I mean, if you’re planning on surprising her during her 7 a.m. jog but she ends up not going that day, you’re going to be super disappointed and thrown off guard. It never hurts to be extra planned.

Don’t Let Snow Put a Damper on Proposing
The weather outside may be frightful, especially in the Northeast, but don’t let a little (or a lot) of snow completely derail you proposal plan. Even if it makes the original idea completely impossible to execute, have the snow work for you as a plan B.
Check out this adorable snow proposal that happened just this week. It’s a different, yet just as romantic spin, to the beachy helicopter proposal we posted this past week. The girl went on an airplane ride with friends and when she looked out, “WILL YOU MARRY ME” was written in the snow. Obviously, it’d be harder to see in the snow with it being white on white, so he had shoveled the outlines of the words and put red balloons in the crevices.
When the plane landed right next to the words, her future husband opened the airplane doors and she immediately jumped into his arms. Talk about sweet.
The best part? Their families were watching from a distance and threw a party for them immediately after. If that’s not a perfect proposal and a wonderful day, I don’t know what is!
Are you proposing despite the snow?

Proposing with Cake
This Valentine’s Day, you may think it’s romantic to propose through a baked good. We think this is a delicious idea, as long as you don’t actually hide the ring in the food (it’s a proven choking hazard and a true romance killer). Here are some great ways to pull off this sweet, sweet proposal.

Beware of some store bought cakes. According to CakeWrecks.com, this is a proposal fail. What's with the color of that diamond anyway?
Whether you’re writing on brownies you baked from a box or crafting her a piece of culinary excellence, letting her know you care by making something yourself is extra meaningful. Imagine her surprise when she expects dessert but instead finds a message on her cake. If your girl has a thing for sweet treats, she’ll definitely love and appreciate this proposal.
2) Get her favorite cupcake shop in on it
Cupcakes are all the rage these days and if your girlfriend is a cupcake fanatic, you know she has her favorite shop. Plan to ask the bakers if they can make a special cupcake just for her and have it in the display window. Imagine her surprise when she’s reading the titles of today’s fresh cupcakes and she see’s her own name listed as a flavor. Just don’t put the ring on top of the icing. That’s a bit messy.
3) Pop out of the cake yourself
If show girls can do it, why not you? Enlist the help of your creative friends and find a way to make a giant cake (cardboard may be the way to go) and surprise her at some social event she doesn’t think she’ll see you at. Imagine her surprise when you not only pop out of the cake, but you also pop the question!

A Traffic-Stopping Proposal
You want your proposal to wow her– but you also want it to be memorable in a good way. This is why it’s VERY important to think through all the details of your proposal. You don’t want to miss anything in your rush to pop the question.
Unfortunately for this guy, he didn’t think about everything surrounding his big moment. While she said “yes!”, there are some unfortunate consequences that he and his friends may have to face.
You see, hundreds of bikers helped stop traffic on a California freeway so the groom-to-be biker could emit a plume of pink smoke from his bike before proposing to his girlfriend. Turns out, stopping traffic when it’s not an emergency is actually against the law so some of the participants may be facing criminal charges.
Be sure to think twice about certain ideas and do your research first. You don’t want to dampen the happy moment with being arrested.
