Elizabeth Hurley’s sapphire engagement ring
Well it looks like Elizabeth Hurley is joining the long list of celebrities and Brits who love the idea of an engagement ring with colored gemstone centers. Elizabeth has been showing off a sapphire and diamond stunner, ever since Australian cricketer Shane Warne is reported to have popped the question over dinner this past weekend.
The amazing ring boasts an approximate 9 carat sapphire in a classic step-cut style centered between 2 trillion diamonds of approximately 2 carats each and mounted into platinum. Approximate cost for this beauty is estimated at about $100,000 US. It remains to be seen though whether she chose a sapphire center because of her British roots or if it was the ultimate act of romance, since a sapphire happens to be Shane’s birthstone. Is four months too soon to get engaged?
Another engagement has been unearthed via Twitter. Former reality star, Jack Osbourne popped the question to his sweety last week according to People magazine. The future Mrs. Osborne, better known as the model/actress Lisa Stelly, tweeted the news about her acceptance.
She tweeted: “The most amazing man I’ve ever met asked me to marry him – and he wasn’t joking! Crazy, right :)”
What a sweet declaration. The couple had been dating for only four months before the proposal. While a short amount of time, there’s no denying that this couple seems in love and deserves all the happiness in the world.
Osbourne had spent some time getting his life together before dating his bride-to-be. After going to rehab in 2003 for drinking and drug issues, Osbourne sobered up and took life by the horns. He’s now a filmmaker and even produced a documentary about his dear old, super famous dad, Ozzy.
After turning his life around in such a positive way, I’m glad he’s found someone special.

Criss Angel proposes with magical engagement ring
Love is quite the magical experience—especially for this dynamic duo. Criss Angel proposed to his girlfriend Gonzalez this month!
Angel popped the question romantically in Cabo San Lucas Mexico on September 7, according to People magazine. Not only did he pop the question during a perfectly mood-setting, sunset dinner, Angel flew in Gonzalez’s family to surprise her. And as if that wasn’t lavish enough, fireworks went off overhead after the big, “YES!” Gonzalez can now say that when she’s with her man, she really does see fireworks.
The engagement ring sounds really magical too—and it’s no illusion. Angel presented his bride-to-be with a 5-carat diamond set in beautiful platinum. Angel had help designing the ring with New York jeweler Idayne Kaye.

How to ensure a proposal FAIL
Every guy wants to pull off the PERFECT proposal, but there’s always that little voice in the back of a man’s head whispering, “What if she says no?”
Yes, proposal rejections happen. No, you don’t want it to happen to you. So how can you ensure that when you pop the question, you won’t be feeling the vicious blow of heartbreak and humiliation?
Learn from others’ failures, of course! If you Google “proposal fail,” you’re bound to come up with many examples of poor souls who had their failure caught on camera. However, if you study them enough, you’ll be able to notice a pattern. I like to sum it up with this simple formula:
One part smugness + the desire to look good + one super cliché idea = shocked girl running away from you.
Confused? Take a look at this poor guy. You don’t have to hear what they’re saying to know he’s just doing it all wrong.
Basically, if you’re going to propose follow these easy steps to descrease your chances of proposal failure:
1) Know what your lady likes. If she’s shy, DON’T embarrass her with a public proposal.
2) Remember the proposal is for HER—not for you. If you care about how you look to others during this whole thing, you’re missing the point.
3) Go in humble. The reason why the tradition has a man get down on one knee is because he’s supposed to humble himself, basically begging his woman to spend the rest of her life with him. Don’t assume you’ll get a yes. It would be an honor for you to marry her, so treat it like one.
Still need another example? Here’s a classic proposal fail: the dreaded Jumbotron. Boys, it may seem like a dream come true for your name to be on the score board during a sporting event, but let me be honest—it doesn’t really scream romance (even with the clipart hearts).
Girls: What type of proposal would cause you to say an instant “no”?

Imprisoned American hikers released and engaged
Sometimes the best proposals aren’t flashy or spectacular. But that doesn’t keep them from being completely heartfelt and perfect, even despite being in unfavorable circumstances.
After two years, the remaining American hikers who accidentally crossed into Iran illegally have been released. Two of the hikers, Shane Bauer and Sarah Shourd were informally engaged while imprisoned and have now become “formally” engaged on Friday in Oman.
Bauer first asked his girlfriend to marry him while they both were imprisoned so they could focus on their hopeful future rather than their dismal present. He gave her a makeshift engagement ring out of threads from his own shirt.
Unfortunately after being released a year earlier than Bauer and the other hiker, Josh Fattal, due to medical reasons, Shourd lost the ring while traveling around the United States as she worked to help free her fiancé and friend.
However, now reunited, Bauer gave Shourd a real ring and the two are looking forward to their exciting future and a life outside of the Iranian prison. Their other hiker friend, Fattal, will be the best man at the wedding, relatives said in a CNN report.
Their story is proof that all you need for the perfect proposal is a little bit of love and a whole lot of hope.
What do you think about the imprisoned hikers’ love story?
Proposal not meant for the camera
Sometimes it’s easy to get lost in the wormhole of Youtube proposals online. Some are extravagant and flashy. Other’s are epic fails. But what about those proposals not meant to be caught on camera and just are?
Take this photograph for example.
When this came out a couple of months ago, my heart completely went a-flutter. Videographer Michael Justin Porco had been shooting a time lapse of Bethesda Fountain, shooting frames every 5 seconds, when he captured this gem. It wasn’t until after he reviewed his photography that he realized he had captured a sequence of a couple’s proposal. You can see the whole fairy tale unfold here.
Then you have this adorable coincidence. A journalist was in the middle of shooting a story on site at an airport when the couple behind her gets engaged. When the news anchor realized it, she did a great job of awkwardly embaressing them, but I guess the awkwardness only serves to prove that the proposal was in fact genuine. You can watch their proposal here.
Do you think the more sincere proposals are those not meant to be caught on camera?
