A birthday proposal for the birthday boy!

Okay, so it’s a well-known no-no to give a girl an engagement ring as a present for some occasion that warrants presents. Propose on Christmas? Um, that’s not her Christmas present. Propose on her birthday? Um, sorry…you’re not getting out of this one. At least give her a card.

But this…now this is cute. This time the boy proposes on HIS birthday. After everyone in the room serenades him with a heartfelt rendition of “Happy Birthday,” he makes a mini speech before blowing out his candle.

He explains that while it’s not customary to have his wish said out loud, he was going to do it anyway and hope for the best.

Well his wish was to have his girlfriend be his wife. HOW SWEET? Of course she said “YES!” (Then again…who would say “No” on someone’s birthday? Hmmm….maybe that was his plan all along?).

What do you think: What do you think of birthday proposals?

This year’s St. Patrick’s Day proposal

Sometimes when I post cute proposal videos, sometimes they happened a couple months ago or even a couple years ago. But I love it when I find something that’s new and JUST happened.

Here is an adorable proposal that seriously just happened this past St. Patrick’s Day. This guy is performing  at a festival or show with his band and starts singing a song for his girl (song doesn’t start until 30 seconds in). He seems like a hoot and a half because it’s more comedic than super, mushy romantic. My favorite part is when the band starts singing “Katie will you marry Rick?” followed by a slightly inappropriate verse before the groom hops off the stage and gets down on one knee.

Bride-to-be seems thrilled and embaressed all at the same time. But she indeed says yes and it truly is a cute proposal. My other favorite part occurs as the couple is having their moment, when a band member says to the audience, “Okay so we’re taking a 15 minute break. But because she said “Yes” we’ll definitely be back now.”

Check it out! Super cute. Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone!

Proposing at the St. Patrick’s Day Parade

With St. Patrick’s Day coming up, you may be thinking of ways to propose on this cool little holiday.

Many men have claimed they’d do a song and dance to propose their love. Other’s say they’d shout it from the mountain tops.

But lets get serious here. How many flash mobs or hiking proposals on Youtube are there? Been there. Done that.

How about a parade?

Every cool holiday in our society warrants a parade these days. I’ve seen tons of them for every occasion. They’re cute. They’re chill. Who could hate a parade?

Especially if your lady is a fan of parades, this could be the proposal for you. This guy got a banner made and had some of the parade walkers carry it through the crowd. It said “Will you marry me” on it, complete with a picture of the happy couple.

Needless to say, the parade-loving lady  in this video was super thrilled and even ended up on the news afterward. Check out this clip of the big moment.

What do you think: Would you ever consider proposing via parade?

The Bachelor’s Fake-Out Proposal

The proposal. It’s one of the most beautiful moments of your life. You hang on every single word that your man is saying as he pours out eloquent words of how awesome you are.

But….what if he used the word “but” at some point in that supposedly eloquent speech? “But” is not a romantic word. In fact, it’s a word that strikes fear in the heart of any human being in any conversation.

Well for the Bachelor’s proposal on Monday, he used the word “but” twice. Sure, the first time was in his proposal let down to the girl he didn’t choose (which I must say was TERRIBLE! He basically admitted to loving her, “but”). I guess I was just surprised to see it used the second time…you know… with the girl he was picking.

You can see the look of horror on Courtney’s face. However, it was just a fake-out. Ha…ha? I guess I fail to see the purpose in making your future bride break out into cold sweats right before you ask her to be your wife.

When I was proposed to, there was an unintentional fake-out moment when my fiance was giving his speech. He nervously fumbled over his words and said, “And I…I just can’t grow old with you.”

I looked at him confused, “Say what?”

He looked confused. “Huh? What did I say?”

Needless to say he was thoroughly embarrassed. I think it’s a cute story though.

What do you think: Do you think intentional fake-out proposals are cute or cruel?

A smooth and surprising proposal

It’s very hard to surprise women these days it seems– at least with marriage proposals. And with more men going bigger and flashier– about half-way through the “surprise” she typically knows what’s coming. Aka. That means the proposal really isn’t a surprise at all, in my opinion.

But this 2011 proposal was nothing but sheer surprise and smooth execution. I really have to give the guy props.

It starts off where he surprises her with a fun date with a behind the scenes tour at an aquarium– an activity she apparently loves and is thrilled over. Then he coordinates a long-time friend she hasn’t seen in a while who actually works at the aquarium to bump into her. They have a nice chat and her aquarium friend hands her a map, trying to be helpful, and mentions fun program listings are on the back of the map.

She finishes chatting, thanks for the advice and turns over the map and BAM! A “Will You Marry Me” message is printed on the paper. She gleefully freaks out and the guy gets down on one knee. They both tear up. I must say, it really was beautiful.

Check it out for yourself. And guys, take notes! This is a proposal that is all about the girl and surprises her in a non-cheeseball way. I approve.

What do you think: Good proposal or no?

Twilight brides attempt to break world records

Are you a UK bride attending this record breaking event?

Are you a UK bride attending this record breaking event?

Our neighbors across the pond are gearing up to celebrate the release of the Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 1 DVD tomorrow. However, this won’t be just your average DVD release– at least for those at HMV Oxford Street Flag ship store.

In addition to the release, the store is trying to break the Guinness World Record for longest chain of brides. Yup! That’s right. As if standing in line was hard enough, now hundreds– if not thousands– of dedicated Twilight fans will dress up as brides in order to take part of this event. (Supposedly special guests will be there and there will be a premiere of a clip of the yet to be seen Part 2).

The event takes place tomorrow at 10:30 (of course not our 10:30). But if you happen to be a UK bride who also loves Twilight, you can register for the event here: https://www.facebook.com/TheTwilightSagaUK?sk=app_312490272142935

What do you think: Are you a UK bride will be attending? If not in the UK, would you consider going if you could?
