A Romantic Helicopter Proposal

There are some known factors in popping the question that have worked for many people. There’s the obvious one of doing something super romantic like a helicopter ride. There’s doing something sentimental like surrounding her with all the people she loves. There’s the intimacy of having the moment just be for the two of you. And of course there’s special factor of proposing in a place that means something to the two of you.

Well, this guy combined ALL of the above into a perfectly great proposal.

He takes his bride-to-be up in a helicopter and  flies over the beaches of California– instantly romantic, right? It gets even better when he points out that the beach below them is where he first asked her to be his girlfriend. As if that’s not sweet enough, when she looks out the window, there’s huge letters spelled out in the sand, asking her to marry him.

That’s a perfectly fantastic except it doesn’t stop there. There are TONS of people standing around the proposal letters. But these weren’t just innocent bystanders who happened to be there at the right time. Nope. These were their families who were thrilled to have a part in the proposal. And yet, the big moment was still super intimate because it was just the two of them in the air (well, except for the pilot…but we won’t count him).

Check it out below and let us know what you think!

The Perfect Peter Pan Proposal

The goal to any proposal is to get a “yes” from your lovely lady. But an added bonus is truly being able to make all her dreams come true.

This guy did just that.

Even before they met, especially when she was a child, Moriah was in love with the story of Peter Pan and fancied herself as Wendy. She dreamed that one day her Peter Pan would fly in and take her to their own personal Never Never Land.

Imagine the irony when starts dating an actor who is actually playing the role of Peter Pan as his profession.

So, he decided to use this to his advantage. He rented a boat, flew in/bused in their closest family and friends and dawned his stage costume while hiding. She was brought to the boat by a friend and greeted by Captain Hook. The friend just happened to have a Wendy night gown for her to wear.

When she put it on and entered the boat, the first thing she saw was all her special people— and then she saw him. Her Peter Pan smiling down on her, greeting her with a cheery “Hello there, Wendy Lady.”

The proposal was so magical, she said she felt like she was living in a dream. The best part? It was so extra magical that children actually gathered around on shore to cheer on Peter Pan and Wendy as they got engaged.

If that’s not a magical proposal, I don’t know what is.

“Charlie Casanova” Movie Trailer Proposal

Movie trailer proposals have always had that surprise factor many girls have come to love. This lucky lady went to see the new movie “Warm Bodies” and was greeted with this quirky masterpiece.

Apparently her man thinks he’s reminiscent of Casanova, so he made an action-esque film where he fights his way to getting to the movie theater so he can pop the question, despite the bad guys trying to get in his way.

Does his lady agree that he’s a real life Casanova? Apparently so, because she said “yes” to this public proposal.

Proposals in Space

Well, it’s not actually in space but it’s still pretty awesome and one guy from France will pull off an out of this world proposal on Valentine’s Day.

Basically, the company ApoteoSurprise will send up a weather balloon like device up into space with cameras filming your proposal message as it rises further and further into the atmosphere. Once it reaches a certain altitude, the balloon will explode, sending the equipment to the ground to be gathered later. When you play the tape for your sweetie, you’ll have some pretty awesome pictures of the proposal with even a shot of our planet in the background.

The cost? Only 4900 Euros and apparently many couples have used this method and have thoroughly enjoyed it.

But if space really isn’t your “thing,” never fear. This Europe-based company has 30 scenarios for you to choose from when it comes to proposals and grand sweeping gestures.

Would you propose in outer space?

Pros and Cons of Perfect Proposal Places

So you have the ring. You’ve picked the day. Now the only thing you have to figure out it is where. Sometimes the place can really add or take away from the actual big moment. On the fence about where to ask the question? Check out this easy pro and con list to help you break it down so you can be better prepared for your big day.

The Public Park or Beach

Pro: If your lady loves fresh air or if this happens to be a place you’ve frequented for picnics,  she’d probably love it. What’s even better is there will be plenty of trees or sand dunes around for photographers to hide behind to capture the moment. And if you need accomplices to help pull off the big surprise, since it’s such a public place, chances are your friends can blend in with the crowd.

Con: Unpredictable things can happen anytime anything takes place outside. Make sure you check the weather regularly to prevent being rained out. And also check the community calendar in case you plan your proposal on a day that has a big, public event. An over crowded park isn’t really that romantic.

The Local Coffee House

Pro: So your lady would rather spend her afternoons over a hot cup of coffee or tea while reading a good book or having a great conversation? This is definitely the place. Not only will she love it because it’s already of the places that makes her happy and comfortable on a regular basis, but every time you take her for coffee now, the place will be extra special. Plus you can get the baristas in on the surprise and help you pull it off.

Con: It might not be seen as romantic to her unless you do something to spruce it up (a rose for every day you’ve been together?). Also, plan it on the wrong day or during the wrong time and you have yourself a very over crowded space full of long lines, cranky hipsters and a not-so-thrilled future wife.

At the County Fair

Pro: There’s no limit to possibilities here. The tunnel of love? Top of a ferris wheel? A great game of bumper cars? Not only would this day be a memory in the making, but you’ll appeal to her inner child.

Con: Weather, crowds, and the potential of indigestion from fair foods. Be prepared and come with a plan. And don’t forget to check every detail. After all, you don’t want to plan a proposal on top of a ferris wheel if she hates heights. And maybe just have some Tums on standby too in case the funnel cake goes awry.

At a House (her’s, your’s or their’s)

Pro: Whether its your house, her parents’ or even her grandparents– you know you’ll be catching her by surprise. Plus then you can have an excuse to have the important people in her life (like grandma) in attendance for the big moment. Plus, you don’t have to worry about weather.

Con: It may not be special enough if you don’t plan ahead. And if you’re planning on having other people there, it may be best to see if she’s even interested in a public proposal. If she’s shy, it might be better to plan this one for just the two of you.

Some Place Completely New

Pro: While there’s no fond memories tied to it, that’s another thing that makes this place so special. The fond memory tied to here will be first and foremost your proposal. It’s the perfect place to plan a surprise because the place would be a surprise itself. Whether it’s a romantic vacation or just a spot in town you haven’t been to before, if she has a sense of adventure, she’s sure to enjoy every minute of this proposal.

Con: If you don’t do your research first, you may not be familiar with the space enough to pull of your proposal. Do your homework and know the ins and outs of this new place. That way, you can be prepared for everything, no matter what could go wrong.

Saver and Splurger Ideas for Valentine’s Day

So you’re planning to propose on Valentine’s Day! Whether you want it to be a huge ordeal or you have a slightly smaller budget to execute the perfect proposal-popping atmosphere, the possibilities are endless.

The Idea: In front of a great sunrise/sunset

Splurge: Get a hot air balloon

Imagine this: You blindfold your lady and drive her to the place where you’ll both board a hot air balloon and take a romantic adventure into the sky just as the sun rises or sets (depending on what works best for you). Pop some champaign even. The site may be breath taking, but nothing will take her breath away more than when you ask her to marry her up there in the clouds.

Save: Plan a picnic on the beach or on a mountain top

Who needs a fancy, expensive hot air balloon ride if you have natural beauty around you? Take a hike or walk on the beach and set up a romantic picnic. Depending on whether or not you chose the sunrise or sunset, you can have a charming breakfast with muffins and mimosas or an evening snack of cheese, grapes and wine. The tone is set, the cuddling is expected, and the big question– well, that’ll just be the surprise of her life.

The Idea: You want to take her out to a fancy dinner

Splurge: Go all out

You know that fancy-pants restaurant that takes weeks to get a reservation? Make it in advance. Surprise her by delivering a dress to her front door for her to wear for the evening and pick her up in a town car or limo. Don’t forget the roses! When she gets to the dinner of her dream, don’t wait too long to propose. After all, you’ll want to saver the happiness over some dessert and champaign.

Save: Turn your house into a restaurant

Sure, you may not be able to afford all the bells and whistles, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make her the dinner date of her dreams. Either cook something fancy yourself or get take out ahead of time that you can plate on fancy dishes. Whip out the table cloth and candles. Hit the button on your iPod for a romantic tune and don’t forget the candles! Want to kick it up a notch? Cover the room with roses for her. When she comes home, she’ll be completely taken by surprise. Plus, you can get the intimate proposal she’s always wanted.

The Idea: You want to take her to Disney World

Splurge:  Plan an awesome vacation

Whether you plan a weekend for two or a weeklong family and/or friend affair, a Disney proposal could be just what she’s always wanted. Propose in front of Cinderella’s castle, or on a gondola ride at Epcot, or even during one of those epic fireworks displays. There is no shortage of great proposals at Disney World.

Save: Bring Disney World to Her

If your lady is a Disney fan, she’ll be thrilled when you bring the childhood joy of Disney World to her. Dress up like Mickey Mouse and deliver her roses at work or watch a marathon of her favorite movies before popping the question to her on the couch. Or, if you want to go all out– do what this guy did and get the entire neighborhood involved in making her backyard a real, life Disney World experience. You don’t have to be in Florida to be her Prince Charming.
