The Olympic swimmer announced her engagement to Prince Albert II of Monaco this past summer. Her gorgeous pear-shaped engagement ring was made by designer Alberto Repossi. According to Alberto, the white gold engagement ring had a 4 carat pear-shaped center stone and two 2 carat round side stones. The designer named the ring “Téthys,” which is the name of the Greek sea goddess.

Kate Middleton

The 28-year-old fashion icon announced her engagement to Prince William this past month. She inherited Princess Diana’s coveted blue sapphire ring. The engagement ring, which has an 18 carat center stone and 14 round diamonds, is in white gold and cost $44,500 in 1981, but is now worth approximately $396,150. Interesting fact: Although everyone loves Princess Diana’s iconic ring, apparently it wasn’t loved by Princess Diana herself. After her divorce, Princess Diana later said in an interview that if it was up to her she would have picked a different ring.
