Canvas Worthy Proposal

This man, Joshua, gets a lot of credit for doing something creative. He and his girlfriend, Rachael, were attending a Tipsy Artist Paint Party (it basically involves alcohol and painting) and the three people sitting across from the two of them, who I’m hoping are family and/or friends, hold up their canvases when they read out, “Will you marry me?”

Joshua is then down on one knee, giving Rachael a little speech with his proposal (as everyone looks on with their “awwws”.

Of course she said yes. And did you see that ring? I’d say this definitely goes down as “canvas worthy” and wonderfully creative.

An Architectural Beach Proposal

Miguel wanted his proposal to Lorena to be extraordinary, and he took a good month making sure it was just that. He’s an architecture student and told Lorena he was going to a conference and wanted to meet up with her afterwards to hang out for the day. Unbeknownst to her, he had an agenda.

Lorena got to the beach around 2:30 and Miguel told her he was going to cover his eyes to show her something “really cool”. Little did she know that he had an amazing setup on the beach waiting to set the tone for their future. So they walk to the “site” across the sand, her trusting him to guide her. Finally he tells her she can open her eyes, and she’s presented with something pretty amazing.

Miguel and Lorena walk arm in arm down this walkway he’s set up with signs that say things like, “I love you”. Finally they go to the middle of this heart he has created in the sand, and he drops to one knee (1:40).

Talk about a proposal well planned. It’s never too late for a romantic beach setting in my opinion!

Whitney Port Engaged!

It looks like The Hills are alive with the sound of wedding music! First Lauren Conrad and now her friend from the show, Whitney Port, is engaged!

Port, 28, is engaged to her boyfriend Tim Rosenman, an associate producer of the MTV spin-off show, The City. They met in 2008.

The couple was traveling in Australia for work related purposes and he decided to propose there! He had been planning a big ordeal with renting a boat and going in the harbor, but their last day there it was wet and rainy and not outdoor-proposal-friendly. Rosenman adapted quickly, and proposed low-key in their hotel room.

At the time, Rosenman presented Port with a stunning oval stone, [rose or yellow– not yet confirmed] band with three rows of diamonds. She and Conrad both seemed to pick men who had excellent taste in rings!

Leighton Meester and Adam Brody Engaged!

I must admit, I didn’t even know the former Gossip Girl and O.C. man were dating!

This private couple have, apparently, been dating for less than a year and were first romantically linked in early February. At the time, a source told Us Weekly that the pair had been “secretly dating” after being friends for since working together on the 2011 film “The Oranges.”

Reps for Leighton and Adam have yet to officially confirm or comment on the engagement news, but a source gave the information to Wonderwall, who first broke the news.

No spotting of the ring yet, but I hope Brody did a good job!

Cornfield Proposal

These two love birds always dreamed of farming together. So when Casey decided to propose, he wanted to make it extra special. He decided to incorporate their love for farming.

Going around the cornfield (please don’t ask me any technical terms, here), Casey lets his girlfriend know that something may be wrong with his tractor. She gets out and thinks she’s looking for a broken part, but around 2:08, she turns around and finds Casey kneeling behind her (now in front of her) on one knee.

What a creative way to propose!

Engagement 101 Minute: What’s the difference between a princess and cushion cut?

Left: Princess Cut, Vanna K ; Right: Cushion cut, Henri Daussi

EPISODE 2

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A PRINCESS AND CUSHION CUT?

Engagement ring designer Vanna K presents two very trendy fancy shaped diamonds: the princess cut and the cushion cut. Do you know the difference? The princess cut is square shaped, features sharp edges and is more modern looking. The cushion cut is also called “pillow cut” because it is a square with rounded corner, and has a more antique look. Watch the video to learn more!

No Fish Were Harmed During This Proposal

If you go to the very end of the video of this proposal (3:12), it says, “No fish were harmed in the making of this film.” It made me laugh.

Nicci is asked to host a show that tours the aquarium. Little does she know that it’s not an actual show. It’s a diversion. Keane has planned his proposal.

As she comes up on a larger tank, she sees two divers and starts questioning the camera-man. “What’s going on?”

“Are you getting this?”

It isn’t until about 1:25 when she starts realizing that it’s for her.

Her reaction is absolutely priceless.

I laughed out loud when Keane asked her to marry him without kneeling, and you then see her instruct him to get down on one knee. While of course she said yes, I love that she wanted him to present it in the traditional stance.

GO ARMY Proposal

We all know there’s a big rivalry when it comes to football, ARMY v. NAVY. Well, I suppose it’s the same all around. When the women’s Army soccer team beat the Navy, 2-0, they had plenty to celebrate about. However, more was added to their agenda.

After the team circled up around their captain, Cadet Joey Molacek, and they were joined by some of her family,  “My Kind of Crazy” by Brantley Gilbert started playing over the PA system and Cadet Scott Vrudny appeared in front of her. It just so happens that “My Kind of Crazy” was their song… and he was carrying a red rose… wonder where he was going with this…hmmmmm.

If you can imagine, all the girls are already shrieking and exclaiming things like, “Oh my God!” Then, around 0:55, when Vrudny drops to one knee the noise escalates to a whole new level.

I don’t think Vrudny was 100% prepared for the reaction to his proposal, because afterwards he’s pushed out of the way for a team huddle around her and demands to see the ring. No need to worry, Vrudny, because your buddies were waiting close by to do the exact same thing… just not quite as emotionally as the ladies.

Veteran’s Day Proposal

On Monday, Veteran’s Day, petty officer Sam Peikert and his girlfriend Jackie Fairchild took their relationship to a whole new level with special help from David’s Bridal, the USO, and recording artist Jason Derulo on ABC news.

The USO Service Man of the Year popped the question to his sweetheart with a surprising “Marry Me” performance from the man who wrote the song. If you want to see Sam drop to one knee, skip ahead to about 1:40.

I seem to be having trouble embedding the video. So click here for the video!

Before Sam actually proposes, I must confess I thought Jackie didn’t look all that thrilled about being there. But by the end we are definitely getting genuine smiles from her.

After all, who can beat getting a proposal on television, being sung to by Jason Derulo, having your man in uniform, and then getting a hug from the recording artist himself after it all? I’d say she did pretty well.

Congratulations to Jackie and Sam, and thank you to all those who sacrifice by putting their service to their country first and foremost in their lives.
