1 – Make sure you have a flawless manicure. Treat yourself to a nail salon Special Manicure so your nails look good close and from every angle. Invest in a specific spa treatment for your hands. They need to look smooth and hydrated.

2 – Just before you start shooting, remove your ring, make sure it is clean and shinny. Then put on some hand-cream and mix in a little bit of shimmer so your hands look even more amazing in any light conditions. Wait for it to dry before putting your engagement ring back on.

3 – Try to use  natural light. It will make your ring and your hands look amazing. Go outside and find a nice spot or place yourself by a widow. If you really have to take a picture inside and it’s dark, don’t get to close to the lamp . Diamonds and polished metals will reflect the light in ways that will make both your ring and hand look terrible. Take your time and test out different spots.

4 – Hold a prop in your hand or lay your hand on one, to add some context or just have a better hand posture.

5 – Take as many shots as you can from all angles to find the best one. Have fun with this, try different things with your hands and different backdrops and locations.

Browse rings that are both practical to wear and beautiful.

6 – Don’t hesitate to ask for assistance. You can fake a ring selfie and just model while giving direction to your fiancé (he or she can be a prop too, check out our Instagram for ideas) or a friend. If you are alone, you can invest in a mini tripod with a remote so you don’t have to worry about holding your camera.

7- Use a photo editor to fix anything that needs to be fixed or enhanced. Our favorite is Whitagram but there are many you can pick from.

Which engagement ring should you pick to fit your lifestyle and career?
