A proposal on Pandora?

Congrats to the happy couple. This guy proposed to his girlfriend via Pandora. Photo courtesy of http://gotaylored.tumblr.com/

There have been many geeky ways to propose thanks to technology. There was the Twitter proposal, many Facebook proposals and even a Google Maps and StumbleUpon proposal.

Last month, a young man entered uncharted territory by pulling off the first ever proposal through Pandora.

You know those annoying little ads that play every couple of songs? Yup, he had a recording ad proposing to his girlfriend on live streaming radio. Originally she thought it was a joke, but when she realized it was a true proposal, she said yes!

A very unique proposal indeed, but the gent gets definite points for creativity. With so much developing with technology these days, there’s no end to how a guy can propose.

My only question now is…how come no one has proposed via Pinterest yet?

What do you think? Are Internet proposals cool or lame?

Miley Cyrus Engagement Ring

Former Disney star, Miley Cyrus is no longer the young Hanna Montana. The Hunger Games actor, Liam Hemsworth proposed to Miley with 3.5 carat Neil Lane engagement ring. The two love birds met on the set of their 2010 movie The Last Song, and rumors are they may be a baby on the way!

Miley Cyrus’ engagement ring is handcrafted in 18-karat gold with intricately carved diamond floral motifs in an art nouveau pattern. It features a very unique center stone, an antique dating back to the late 19th century.

“It was hand-cut around 1880 or 1890 and it’s unique and in its original form,” Lane says according to People magazine.“At that time no two diamonds were alike, as they were all hand-cut, so it’s fascinating to look at because it hasn’t been re-cut to look contemporary over the years. I find that really romantic.”

How would you announce your engagement?

Ahhh….you’ve got the ring and now you want to shout it from the mountaintops! Who can blame you? This is a very exciting time and all your loved ones are dying to know!

So how can you announce your engagement? Are you coy about it or do you send out a huge notice that is flashy? Originally, we didn’t want to announce our engagement to the world until we had called a number of people to tell personally. Then, when we announced it publicly online, we simply put up a picture of me jumping in the air when he proposed. A few people got the hint and it spread like wildfire.

Yeah…not too exciting. BUT this couple sure has it going on. Check out this crazy, adorable, and tastefully dorky video announcing this couple’s engagement.

What do you think? Is this dorky or completely cute? Would you announce your engagement via video?

Proposing during the summer

School’s out for summer! Well, even if you’re out of school, no one can deny that the summer season has a wonderful quality about it. It’s beautiful, it’s fun, and it’s the perfect time for love! Here are some tips to make sure your summer proposal doesn’t end in disaster.

1) Avoid  mid-day hours.
The sun is brightest during this time. Do you really want your bride dying in the heat and blinded by the sun as your get down on one knee? Probably not. Shoot for early morning or later in the afternoon/evening.

2) If you do go out, slather her with sunscreen.
Nothing is less romantic than a sunburn. So, if you’re planning taking her for a summer hike, picnic or beach trip before the proposal, please slather your honey with some sunscreen. She’ll think you’re sweet for watching out for her AND she won’t have a sunburn to remember the proposal by.

3) Get good bug spray.
The summer is also prone to bugs. Romantic hikes and picnics are fabulous, as long as the mosquitos don’t make a feast out of the two of you. Pick out a good bug spray far in advance so you know it won’t smell gross and disgust her. Again, she’ll think you’re sexy for thinking ahead.

4) Watch out for water and sand.
If you propose on the beach or in a boat, be VERY careful not to drop the ring. It’s best to propose with the ring in the box during these scenarios. Then, when you do put the ring on her, make sure YOU do it (not the shaking/excited bride-to-be) and you are SUPER careful. Trust us…nothing ruins a proposal more than having to take a metal detecter to the beach later.
