What do Michael Jackson, Will Smith, Beyonce, and Mickey Mouse have to do with each other? One Awesome Proposal!

Jehan wanted to propose to Vish in a way that combined all of her favorite things. It started with her friend, who is in on the proposal, showing Vish a video on youtube that is of Mickey and Minnie Mouse doing the dance to her favorite song from her favorite Bollywood movie. However, the video cuts out and tells Vish to answer the door while her friends flip out their phones and start to record.

 

Vish is lead outside to a band of Mickeys dancing in the street to all of Vish’s favorite music. I know you want to get to the good part, but really the proposal means nothing if you don’t watch all the dances. I mean, how often do you see Mickey Mouse dancing to modern-day music?

If you do want to skip ahead, Jehan gets on one knee around 5:35.

I just love how not only did he combine all her favorite things, but all of their friends were in on it. Where can I find some guys willing to do this? Anyone? Anyone?

How to Propose to a Book Lover

If you are dating a bibliophile, you understand that sometimes the romance in the books she’s reading can outweigh reality. It’s nothing personal, it’s just that she loves to live in the moments of the characters. This should work in your favor, because when you two are together she feels like she’s in her own book with you. So how do you propose to one of these fine book lovers in a way that will tie-in her other favorite loves? Here are some ideas!

1. Book Signing. Take her to a signing of a new author or one of her favorites. Contact the author beforehand about being there if you can, but if all else fails find a moment while there to ask if he/she will sign the book for your significant other in a special way — have the author sign it, “To [name], will you please marry [name]?” Talk about a memory! Just make sure you’re waiting on one knee with the ring when she peeks up from the book to see you.

2. First Edition. There are so many ways to find the first edition of books these days. Do your best to find the first edition of one of her favorite books to go with your proposal. I would not suggest writing in it, but sticking a note in it perhaps on a love scene page or page with an amazing quote. If she’s a real lover of books, as much as she loves you– she doesn’t want you spoiling the first edition with your own writing.

3. Location, location. If going to the bookstore or library is something you tend to accompany her on, why not propose when she’s surrounded by a bunch of books? If we had seen the Beast’s proposal to Belle, you can bet it would have been in the library. Whether you hang a sign or just propose in the stacks, there’s no way to go wrong with this plan.

4. Reenact it. If you missed the post about the Pride & Prejudice proposal, go take a look and take notes. There’s nothing like coming home and walking into the scene of your favorite book, especially if it involves an actual proposal. Go to great lengths to make this girl’s dream come true– be her Mr. Darcy!

4 Princess Worthy Proposals

Every girl wants a William to her Kate– to be treated like a princess by the one she loves the most. So how do you bring this into your proposal? Here are four ideas that are inspired by classic princesses, and definitely worthy of your to-be finance.

1. Horse and Carriage. Whether you live somewhere that has this tourist attraction or it might take a little more planning, what girl doesn’t dream about a romantic carriage ride worthy of Cinderella? Take her for a ride and reminisce over your relationship, and when the time is right pop the question!

2. Lantern Release. Since Disney’s Tangled, it seems that using lanterns in a romantic setting has climbed as a fad. Embrace this beautiful, magical sight and take your significant other out for a stroll when the moon and stars are out. Have the lantern placed somewhere so you can light it and give a speech. Once she’s said “yes”, release the lantern into the night sky.

3. Dress up. Many men have gone to extra lengths in their proposals to dress up in character for the mood. Whether it’s for replaying Pride & Prejudice or even dressing up as Simba from The Lion King. So dress up as your princesses’s favorite prince and play the role– just make sure she gets her princess attire (and accessory) as well!

4. Go on a safari. If Prince William can propose to Princess Kate in a cabin in Kenya, it should be good enough for your lady! Whether it’s an exotic location or somewhere else in state, going to a secluded, romantic spot away from society and technology is beyond special. The moment will be just for the two of you for a little longer than if you were to do it ‘locally’.

German University Proposal

Aline and her man had been together for twelve years. If that doesn’t show commitment, I don’t know what does. Any woman who will wait that long, that patiently for a proposal deserves a trophy in my book.

On this day, though, her patience would be awarded. She’s at the university with her boyfriend as he’s helping a student set up for a show (I’m assuming he’s a professor). When music starts to play, dancers appear with ribbons and Aline is pulled out on to a platform in the middle of the crowd. She looks a little stricken, even when her love starts singing in front of the crowd. But when her man descends from the stage and kneels in front of her, she does not hesitate to shout out her (3:30), “Yes!”

3 Laid Back Proposal Ideas

If you are a laid-back sort of couple that doesn’t want to go for the flash mob proposal or have an audience at all, here are three laid-back proposal ideas that will keep the moment private and special.

1. Picnic, Walk, or Outdoor Adventure. If you like to get outside with each other, take this moment to plan a picnic or walk that won’t seem too out-of-the-ordinary. Go to one of your favorite spots and use the familiar atmosphere to keep you at ease as you ask one of the most important questions of your life. (No pressure!)

2. Cooking for Two. Even if it’s just mac and cheese, there’s nothing more special than sharing the kitchen. Set aside a time to cook a few courses. When it’s time for dessert, surprise her with the ring– just make sure if it’s in the food, you let her know there’s something hiding in there.

3. Trip Down Memory Lane. Make a slide show, website, or photo album that celebrates your time together as a couple. It can have just pictures or you can add inside jokes, ticket stubs, and more that may hold special meaning to the two of you. Cozy up to the moment and let her know you made something special for her. Whether it’s on the last page of the album or under a special tab on the website, end the trip with your proposal.

Hot Dog Eating Contest Proposal on the Fourth of July

I never knew that hot dog eating contests were so big, but it makes since that on the Fourth of July we want to celebrate by, you know, stuffing our faces. Joey Chestnut was a contester at the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, but he had a surprise to win his girlfriend as well as focusing on winning on the contest.

I think it’s so great that she was there supporting him. Couples who can do things together and support each other through everything are focused on what’s important. I want to know what hoops he had to jump through to make this happen. As the video opens, his girlfriend is being interviewed like she’s just any spectator, but as he emerges behind her and is waved around by the interviewer, it becomes pretty clear what’s about to happen.

Honestly, I was kind of disappointed that he had the ring out right away. Before he even got down on one knee she saw it and knew what was coming.

Working Up to Your Proposal With Quality Time

I absolutely love spending quality time with the hubs. Whether it’s watching a movie, going out on the town, or staying in and playing board games– my love tank is fullest when we’re together. So how do you work this into your proposal? If you and your significant other lead busy lives and maybe sometimes have a difficult time penciling in the time, make it a point to build up to your proposal with these ideas!

 

1. Date Night. This may seem dumb to mention, but have actually date nights are important. While this may consist of take out and time on the couch most of the time, it’s important to have time together out and about. If this is something you maybe haven’t done in a while, plan a special date out just for the two of you. This doesn’t mean your proposal has to be public, but it’s a good way to remind her that you love being out with her before you pop the question.

2. Do something she likes. Maybe your quality time is usually spent watching sports games when she’d like to go see a musical. Make her feel special by doing something she loves to do. Is she a talker? Take her out to dinner with no distractions where you guys can have one-on-one conversation about everything she can possibly think of. This will let her know how much you appreciate her, and how you really are willing to compromise now and later on once the vows have been exchanged.

3. Say “No” to pressure. Take the pressure off of your sweetie and plan the dates, or at least one. Make sure it centers around what she wants to do and make sure you give her your attention. This is what quality time is all about– spending time with each other.

CrossFit Proposal

JP and Amanda met at early morning workouts at their local CrossFit gym. When JP decided it was time to pop the question, there was no doubt in his mind where he wanted to do it.

Amanda hates doing Burpees, so he got the class in on the proposal and started with her “favorite” workout. At 1:50 when everyone stays on the ground and Amanda looks a bit confused, she starts laughing and crying when JP starts his one-man dance for his proposal.

I think it really took some guts to do it this way. Normally you’d get the whole class in on the proposal or a group of people, but not JP. When it gets to 3:10 he drops to one knee and proposes.

If you watch after the proposal you get glimpses of her ring and everyone reacting. I’d say JP did a wonderful job!

4 Favorite Rom-Com Proposals to Imitate

While you probably shouldn’t base your life off of Romantic Comedies, you have to admit we all have moments we like to think are movie worthy. When it comes to proposing, there’s a reason women use the phrase ‘like a movie’. So how can you give your girl her dream proposal? Take it from ‘the greats’.

1. Love Actually. In Love Actually, Colin Firth’s character Jamie Bennet probably has the best romance (in my opinion) when he falls in love with his Portuguese housekeeper. My favorite scene is when pages from his book go flying and they’re in the lake trying to communicate. This infatuation exceeds expectations and Jamie learns to speak the woman’s native tongue and asks her to “marriage” him in front of her entire family and a restaurant full of neighbors. While you may not have to learn a different language to propose, come up with a grand gesture of your own that you know will sweep her off her feet!

2. He’s Just Not That Into You. For couples who may have been together for a while or co-habitat, something simple but meaningful never goes unnoticed. Who didn’t crack a grin when Ben Affleck’s character Neil proposed to Jennifer Aniston’s character Beth by hiding the ring in an old pair of pants he promised to throw away? Find a way to sneak the proposal into your everyday routine, making it simple but meaningful just for the two of you.

3. Sweet Home Alabama. Leading your girl into an unknown place, in the dark, only to have the lights turn on and be in the center of Tiffany’s to pick out an engagement ring– that’s over the top! Even though Reese Witherspoon didn’t end up with Patrick Dempsey in the end, I’d say this proposal would win any girl over. While this may be above and beyond your budget, surprising your girl with the ability to pick out her own ring could be exactly her style!

4. The Proposal. One of the most unusual proposals where Margaret (Sandra Bullock) proposes to Andrew (Ryan Reynolds) on the street is probably one of my favorites. While the first proposal is a business proposal from Margaret, so to say, the second one is positively adorable when Andrew says, “Marry me because I’d like to date you.” What do you think about the proposing to your fella?

3 Unique Summer Proposals While Beating the Heat

Some areas of the country can be, well, miserable during the summer months. There may be moments where you don’t even want to venture out to enjoy the sunshine because it’s just too hot or you feel like you’re drinking the air due to the humidity. This shouldn’t stop you from proposing, however. Here are three summer proposals specifically geared towards beating the heat.

1. Photo Booth Proposal. If you’re having a day where you’re walking around the mall or visiting an arcade or whatever it is you do, odds are you’re going to pass the photo booth that’s always been there. Convince your sweetie to take some pictures with you and pull out the ring in the second frame (depending on how many you get) or hold up a sign or do what you do– that way you’ll capture everything in pictures, and it will be something to always hold on to.

2. Water Balloons. You’re never too old for water balloons. Plan a water balloon fight with your friends or just your significant other on a day that may be extra hot and miserable. Tell her you’ll get the balloons and line them up with the letters for “Marry Me?” Then you can take cute pictures of the balloons before, and have someone take a picture of a water balloon fight as your engagement photos!

3. Boating, anyone? From paddle boats to sail boats, it’s always cooler on the water. Plan a trip or outting where you get to enjoy some water and pick a moment to propose! Just make sure that the ring goes straight from the box to her finger.
