Getting proposed to…while wearing a wedding dress?

If you’ve ever been to a bridal show, there’s usually a wedding dress fashion show at some point during the event. Young women wear great dresses across the stage as if they were ready to walk down the aisle.

Well during this particular bridal show, one of the male models decided to propose to one of the model brides.

Not going to lie…for the most part, I thought this proposal was pretty lame. But when the groom got all choked up and the bride was obviously pleased, I figured it must have been right for them.

One thing is for sure though…she can’t wear that wedding dress now! That must be bad luck to some degree, right?

What do you think: Would being proposed to in a wedding dress be neat or just awkward?

Man proposes in his…underwear?

The act of a man getting down on one knee is to show respect and to humble himself before his hoped-to-be future bride.

One man takes the humbling practice and bears his soul (and more) to the EXTREME.

Pete Simson filmed a music video to “If you’re not the one” by David Beddingfield with some friends, rented an entire cinema, hired actors to sit in the audience and printed fake tickets for the movie to surprise his girlfriend with a proposal she’ll never forget.

You see, while he lip syncs on the big screen…he’s dancing around in underwear– briefs to be more exact. Apparently each pair were a present from his bride-to-be.

Looks like the couple both have a great sense of humor. She of course said “Yes!”

What do you think: If your man proposed in his undies, would you say “Yes”?

Proposals by strange strangers…

I will never forget the night Bubba proposed to me.

And no, my fiance’s name is not Bubba.

I was 17 years old, being friendly to people after a late night church service. I had talked to Bubba once or twice before– usually just the polite “hello/how are ya?” exchange. This night though, Bubba was particularly glum. Apparently he had just proposed to his dream girl and she said no. I tried to cheer him up by giving him the generic, “There’s plenty of fish in the sea/ you’re a great guy so I’m sure any girl would be happy to marry you” talk.

Suddenly, he whipped out the ring.

“Nikki, you’re right nice. Will you please marry me?”

Slightly confused and appalled that I just got offered a second-hand reject ring only hours after the first offer to another woman, I politely told him no but thanked him all the same. He didn’t relent and was very pushy saying he really wanted me to have the diamond. Finally he gave up. I seriously didn’t know anything else about this man other than the fact that he went by the name “Bubba.”

Turns out, I’m not the only one this happens to. Check out these videos below. The first is a guy proposing to a girl he’s in love with who works at a local bowling alley and the other is of a girl greeting a guy from England who she has only IMed once. Guess what she wears to their first meeting? Yup, a wedding dress.

Just funny jokes? Possibly. But come on… you know deep down inside they hoped the other person would say “Yes!”

Have you ever been proposed to by some random stranger?

A hysterically funny reaction to a proposal

There’s a wide range of emotions a girl could experience when she finds her man on one knee finally popping the question. Some cry. Some faint.

Myself? I nodded silently like an idiot and then jumped in the air.

But this video– whooweee! Was this girl excited. I nearly died laughing at her reaction.

Apparently this was a double whammy of a surprise because her now-fiance was away and she had no idea he was even back yet. It’s seriously nearly two minutes of pure hysterical screaming. I quite enjoyed her enthusiasm. I think her fiance did as well.

Also, I think it serves as great proof that you don’t need a huge, knock-out stunt of a proposal to make your girl’s head explode with excitement. Sometimes less can really be more. Honestly, do you think this girl could survive a flashmob or anything else of epic proportions? Nah. Her head would burst off her like a Fourth of July firecracker.

So, I think bonus points go out to the gent for a beautifully, simple approach. But I’ll let you judge for yourself.

What do you think: What kind of reaction do you hope to have when he proposes?

A Leap Year Proposal

This lady proposed in Scotland on Leap Day.

This lady proposed in Scotland on Leap Day.

February 29th– a day that only happens once every four years– is a special day indeed. Not only do we get an extra 24 hours, but according to Irish and Scottish tradition, it’s the ONE day a woman can propose to a man.

Yesterday, a woman did just that. Genevieve and her boyfriend Rachad are from the United Arab Emirates, but she decided for her epic Leap Day proposal, she’d really make the tradition stick. She surprised her boyfriend by taking him to Scotland where a barber shop singing group serenaded him. The singers then revealed that under their jackets, their shirts spelled “Will you marry…”

Genevieve unzipped her jacket revealing a shirt that read “Me?” and stood in line with the singers.

What do you think his reply was? Probably should watch to find out.

What do you think: Is it okay for women to propose to men?

Cool sword fighting proposal

Wow! This is a clever proposal. I seriously clapped at the end I was so thrilled.

This couple has a cool shared mutual interest- stage combat. During one of their classes, they planned on filming a choreographed fight they had been working on. It’s actually shot pretty well and you could tell she loved playing the character who had the upper hand. The choreography ends with him on his knees with the girl in possession of both swords, one on either side of his neck like she’s about to scissor cut him.

In that moment, he pops the question. (Talk about a brave dude! Proposing with swords around your neck? He must have been confident that the answer would be yes!).

She definitely was surprised. I guess when you’re about to slice open your boyfriend’s throat, the last thing you expect is a marriage proposal.

What do you think: Would you propose with weapons involved?

Best ways to get her ring size

Nothing ruins a proposal than a ring that doesn't fit. Photo courtesy of Nikki LaFaille

So, you’ve found the girl and now all you have to do is find the ring– and in the RIGHT size. It can be a daunting task, but there are some tips to keep you on the straight and narrow (and even how to do it in secret)

1) Measure her finger in her sleep

You can download ring sizers on the internet to print out. Make sure you print it out properly  and while your lady is sound asleep, either slip it around her finger or take a small string and size it that way. Trust me, if you’re stealth enough, she’ll never know.

2) Steal one of her rings

If your gal has a jewelry box, chances are she has other rings. Slip one out and bring it to a jeweler to figure out what size it is. But one word of caution, make sure it’s a ring she wears on a ring finger, preferably her left handed one (and yes, girls do wear rings on their left ring fingers even without being engaged). I knew a guy who did this method, but stupidly grabbed a thumb ring by accident. Whoops!

3) Ask someone close to her

Just ask a girlfriend to ask. If she doesn’t know offhand, tell her to ask in a non-suspicious way. Girls are always joking about when guys will propose. Have her pretend to be nosey and ask if she looked at rings or if she knows the size– you know– just in case you ask, which she’ll deny that you have. Or have her try on one of her rings and then ask.

4) If all else fails, ask her!

Trust me– your girl would rather you ask her upfront than to have you propose with a ring that doesn’t fit.

A Drive-Thru proposal

Here’s the scenario: Boy meets girl. Girl is a bank teller. Boy drives through ATM and tries to deposit a “Will you marry me?” check from afar.

At first I was not sure how I felt about this. I mean…he kind of proposes from far away. For me, that would be a big disappointment. But on the other hand, who in the world would see this one coming? You have to give the guy credit for surprise factor.

I have to admit, in the end, it is cute and the girl definitely appreciated it. It just goes to show you that every couple has their own perfect proposal for them.

What do you think about using the shock value of a proposal to do the talking? Is it ever okay to propose from this far away?
