Kirk Kara – Then and Now Engagement Rings

Engagement-101-10th-anniversary

When we started Engagement 101, it was right at the beginning of big changes in engagement ring design. The classic Tiffany solitaire was starting to get competition from halo styles and more intricate settings. Today the possibilities are endless, with many talented designers exploring alternative designs and couples venturing in designing and customizing their engagement ring. We asked some of our favorite designers their feed-back on these changes and how their collection is different from 10 years ago. We are starting this weekly feature with Angela of Kirk Kara.

“Our creations have always been timeliness originals that infuse iconic design with the intricacy of vintage detail.   In the 2000’s Kirk Kara became stand out for crafting engagement rings with a kaleidoscope of extraordinary natural diamonds and gemstones that were, and still are today, perfect for the bride who is a lover of all things Art Deco and expressive.

On the left end side, a Deco inspired classic from the Charlotte collection featuring blue sapphires and signature handcrafted milgrain edging illustrates the trend, which is very much still in vogue today.

Nowadays,  the diversity of choice in engagement ring shapes is forever expending with intricate designs like the ones on this romantic halo with split shank engagement ring from the Pirouetta collection. Each detail is drawn from romantic patterns found in nature, architecture and art. Our featured two-tone halo design showcases signature handcrafted details including our signature filigree and peek-a-boo diamonds, symbolizes togetherness and love.”
