MJ Christensen Diamonds will honor famous bridal designer Judith Conway during a special evening celebration of the 100th Anniversary of International Women’s Day on Tuesday, March 8th from 6-8pm at their 10400 S. Eastern Ave. location in Henderson.

International Women’s Day is celebrated in many countries around the world. It is a day when women are recognized for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic, or political.

The event is an exciting opportunity to meet famous jewelry designer Judith Conway, who after years of slugging it out on the road as a traveling jewelry sales rep and single mother of three, now heads her own California-based company that specializes in platinum bridal jewelry.

“It is quite humbling to be recognized in this manner,“ says Conway. “We go through life doing what we do, not always having a clear vision of where we are going but trying to do well, and as well as we can. I create out of the pure love of creating and to know that others see those creations and appreciate them, is very gratifying.”

“Judith Conway paved the way for women in the jewelry industry.” Says Darlene Miller, owner of MJ. “Raising three children on her own (one of them being blind), traveling the road as one of the very first female traveling salespersons in our industry, certainly demonstrates the ‘can-do’ attitude of this beautiful lady. From designing for other manufacturers to eventually starting her own company, her designs have always been inspirational, elegant, and timeless. Over the last year, we have been witness to Judith’s diagnosis, treatment, and now fortunately, remission of cancer. She fought her illness with the same determination she approaches life, with a passion for perfection”, says Miller. “We at MJ look to Judith for creativity and counsel as we build for the future. We are extremely proud to honor such a fabulous woman!”

The evening’s celebration will feature art display by local artist Jennifer Maine, a sampling of sweets by “Cupkates of Las Vegas” Katie Thompson, as well as champagne to toast the 100th Anniversary. A portion of the event’s proceeds will benefit the National Association for Moms In Business (NAFMIB) a 501c3 founded by local Nevadan Gina Robison-Billups, who believes that “When you lift up one mom, you lift up a family. When you lift up a family, you lift up an entire community.”
