An Engagement Ring for Him?

HOT TOPIC

male-engagement-ringSinger Michael Buble, who’s happily engaged to Argentinean model Luisana Lopilato, was spotted last week sporting a solid gold male engagement ring. Buble said the engagement ring is an Argentine tradition, but we’re wondering if more men should start wearing engagement rings in general. Jewelry designers have already started capitalizing on the male engagement ring for same-sex couples, but could it be possible that within the next few years all men will start wearing engagement rings? Sound off! Would you buy your fiance an engagement ring?

Yes I would. Actually most of the young women I know are buying male engagement rings for their fiance. I am currently in search of one, but they are hard to come by. Nowadays women are proposing so wouldn’t an engagement ring for a man go hand in hand? I think so. Least that is the reason why I am looking for an engagement ring. It’s the turn of the century and women know what they want. And I am sure most guys wouldn’t mind wearing two rings. I think it’s awesome and about time.

Agreed! I think it is an awesom idea. My boyfriend and I will be getting engaged in the next couple of months and I thought about this idea… either a ring or a watch. The problem is he’s not much a jewellery guy so I figured I would get him another type of “engagement present.” He just got his motorcycle license so I told him I’d pay for his riding lessons and gear. It should run me about $1,000 — not anywhere near the cost of a ring — but at least it’s something that HE actually wants and would use! But I’m 100% behind the male engagement ring idea! :)

I like the idea I think it something new and modern I also think that if not getting him a ring getting him an engagement gift would be a good idea. My fiance is not a jewlery person so I made his motorcycle payments for two months. I wanted to get him a watch or a gold chain but I asked first and he did not want either

HAH! It´s not new at all! It´s an old tradition here in Norway that both the man and the women have rings while engaged. we call it “ring-forlovet” or roughly translated to “ring-engaged”.

When my fiance & I first got engaged, I purchased one for him. He had wanted a ring to symbolize that he was as taken as I was, & I loved that he wasn’t to publicly display that he was on his way to marriage. “Engagement rings” for men, by definition, are rare, so we picked out a wedding band together, purchased it after the engagement, & had it engraved to match my wedding band later.

I did buy my ex-husband an engagement band, in fact after he got his wedding band, I wore his engagement band as a thumb ring. Surprisingly enough, when we ended our 14 year marriage, he wanted to keep the engagement ring, the original wedding ring, and his 10 year anniversary ring I had bought him.

I think it is a great idea. I actually just proposed to my fiance. He was thrilled but now the one question is when do I get mine. lol

Let’s break the tradition that the males propose to us females….Of course I had found an engagement ring on amazon…….I told him that I was going to give him a ring……but he doesn’t know what kind of ring….which is a surprise…..but in his size……So I’m planning to pop the question in August……which he and I have been dating for almost 2 years! so for our 2-year anniversary…I just have to figure out a way to propose to him…:)
