Since we were not able to cover Vegas jewelry week this year, we decided to get a little bit more creative and plan some Holiday themed shoots in New York. We are lucky to get sent engagement ring samples but, the center stones are mostly cubic zirconia, very rarely diamonds. It is such a treat to shoot real diamonds! With the help of marketing director Katie Hamian and the Christopher Designs team, we were able to plan a styled shoot in their showroom, the pictures came out so beautiful. We also had a quick chat with Christopher Slowinski, the man behind the jewelry and the innovative proprietary diamond cuts that look larger and sparkle more than classic cuts.
Why is there such a boost in engagements during the holiday period?
Christopher The holiday season is a time for gathering. Whether that be with friends, or family, it’s generally the time of year to catch up and spend time with those you may not be able to see all the time. The holiday season is naturally a special time for proposals because it’s easy to gather and celebrate the occasion with loved ones!
Are the holidays a cherished time of the year for you and why?
Christopher The weeks leading up to the holidays are some of our busiest. We work exceptionally hard to create beautiful custom pieces, gifts, and engagement rings for holiday proposals. After the rush dies down, the holidays give my family and I the important time to recharge and reflect on the past year, while getting inspired for the year ahead!
Why are diamonds always so festive?
Christopher Diamonds have quite a bit in common with the holiday season… in a word, they are both “magic”. Diamond jewelry remains one of the most thoughtful gifts for the holiday season. A gift that truly lasts forever.
