Dali themed wedding for Simon Cowell, Russell Brand a “bridezilla”

2010 Vanity Fair Oscar Party Hosted By Graydon Carter - Arrivals
There’s so many celebrity wedding news recently that I decided to combine all of the info all in one handy, bite-sized post.

According to Simon Cowell’s ex-girlfriend, his upcoming wedding to fiancee Mezhgan Hussainy will be themed after a painting by Salvador Dali. Contactmusic reported that the American Idol judge is planning to have an artistic bash after the ceremony, complete with angels and melted clocks to emulate Dali’s famous ‘The Persistence of Memory’ painting.

Interesting. But because the source is Contactmusic, we’ll take this with a grain of salt.

In other American Idol news, American Idol winner Carrie Underwood has started planning her wedding to fiance Mike Fisher. Underwood told CMT radio that she’s forgoing a wedding cake.

“We’re kind of doing cupcakes,” she said. “I consider myself a very traditional person — and more than anything we’re getting married and that’s the important part — but we want everyone to have a good time so we’re doing some things like that that are a little different.”

Is comedian Russell Brand a bridezilla? According to his fiancee, singer Katy Perry, he is. The pop star told Hollyscoop:

I’m not that obsessed [with wedding planning]. If we stop for breakfast, he has to stop and get Bride magazine. It gets a little crazy.”

Celebrity wedding boom

March 22nd, 2010 by admin | Comments Off | Filed in celebrity engagements

There’s been a current explosion of celebrity weddings. Having a hard time keeping up with them all? No worries! Engagement 101 has you covered. Here’s a rundown of all the latest celebrity wedding headlines.

Katy Perry bump heads over wedding venue ideas

The pair got engaged late last year and are already diving head first into the busy wedding planning process. Unlike most groom, Russell Brand has been chipping in his ideas for the wedding, but unfortunately Katy Perry keeps shooting his wedding venue ideas down, according to The Mirror.

His first idea? An exotic wedding in India. Perry nixed that idea saying she wanted to get married closer to their home in L.A.

Second idea? Brand suggested a rock n’ roll themed wedding at one of the studios at Sunset Marquis Hotel. But Perry once again shot down the idea. According to a source, Perry is adamant about getting married in a church because of her uber-religious parents.

But hey, at least he’s trying.

Celebrity wedding songs

InTouch had a cute feature last week on celebrity weddings and the couples’ romantic first dances. Included in the piece were reality TV star Kendra Wilkinson and football player Hank Baskett who danced to George Strait’s “I Cross My Heart,” and Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom’s televised wedding where they danced to Babyface’s version of “You Are So Beautiful.”

The most unusual wedding song choice came from singer Pink and Carey Hart who chose the song “Sweet Jane” from the the soundtrack of the film Natural Born Killers. “We love Mickey and Mallory,” Pink says of the homicidal main characters. “They’re our inspiration.”

Hilary Duff says no to “cupcake” wedding dresses

Hilary Duff, who just recently got engaged to hockey player Mike Comrie, told Usmagazine.com that she doesn’t want a big, floofy wedding dress.

“I want it to be girlie and kind of on the bigger side but not too overwhelming because I’m so small,” she said. “I mean people would be like: ‘Whoa, cupcake!”

As for her wedding date, Duff says she’s keeping it a secret.

Simon Cowell wants Elton John to be his wedding singer

American Idol judge Simon Cowell, who spent weeks being vague about his recent engagement to girlfriend Mezhgan Hussainy, wants Sir Elton John to sing at his wedding, a source told PopEater.

“Elton would be the perfect choice,” said the source. “Unlike others, he is brilliant live. Plus, Simon’s dear mum and older relations know all his songs.”

I guess American Idol rejects are too good for him.

How to tame the unmarriageable

February 19th, 2010 by admin | Comments Off | Filed in Relationships

simon-cowellAlthough not officially confirmed, the gossip pages are reporting American Idol judge Simon Cowell is getting engaged to girlfriend and makeup artist Mezhgan Hussainy, a shock to the entertainment world. After all, Simon Cowell, the frequent bachelor, never came off as the commitment type, and even said in interviews that he’ll never wed. So how did she tame the mean judge?

One thing women don’t often realize is that there’s a way to deal with these anti-marriage types. Check out our tips on how to deal with men who categorize themselves as “unmarriageable” :

Men have a “ticking time clock,” too

As much as I hate hearing about women’s biological clocks making them crazy and harpy, there is some truth to being more inclined at settling down once you get older. Even those who vowed to never settle eventually realize they’re getting too old for the bar and won’t mind coming home to another face. Men are the same way. Even those who vow to be bachelors for life eventually realize they can’t keep dating forever.

Don’t act like you’re already married

One reason non-marrying men don’t bother to get married is because they probably have a long-term girlfriend who is already like a wife except in the legal sense. For these men, marrying isn’t important because they have already “settled down” to an extent. At this point, marriage would just be a piece of paper, so why bother? And, well, he has a point. If your goal is walking down the aisle, remember to treat the relationship like you’re still in the dating stage. This way, marriage would appear to be the next logical step to make in the relationship.

Don’t force him down the aisle

The “un-marring” man will marry — eventually. You can’t force them, and no amount of ultimatums will get them to submit. If anything, it will keep them away. Subtle hinting is fine, but the key is being available and allowing him to reach that conclusion himself.

What do you think of these unmarriageable types?
