Is He Going to Propose Over the Holidays? How to Prepare

While wedding season is definitely the summertime, engagement season is during the fall and winter. There’s something romantic about the weather being a little chilly, forcing you to spend more time together, snuggling and keeping warm (in many ways). And because you probably attended so many weddings together over the year, your guy is getting a clearer picture about who he wants to spend the rest of his life with (that’s you!). If you think a proposal is on it’s way, here are some tips to prepare for the big moments (without getting too crazy about it):

Drop Hints…Subtly

You want the moment to be super-special and you don’t want to know exactly how it’s going to go down, but there are sly ways to drop hints about the ring you want by utilizing your friends and family. Send links to those closest to you and casually mention to your guy, “Oh I found the prettiest rings on Pinterest the other day, I shared them with Katie and she loved them too!”

After Labor Day… Manis!

Once Labor Day is over, you’re basically in the Autumn season, so it’s time to keep that manicure up to date. You know, so you can Instagram as soon as he pops the question, without having to wait until you get them touched up. (But remember, even if your nails aren’t perfect, don’t let that stop you from sharing the news. No one will be looking at your nails, they’ll be looking at that rock!)

Don’t Forget About Him

While you might not give him an engagement ring in return, it is a nice gesture to give your guy something to seal the engagement. Maybe it’s tickets to his favorite sports team or something nice for his work wardrobe. It could also be a sentimental gift, like cuff links with the day you got engaged engraved on them. Go ahead and start brainstorming ideas so you aren’t rushed when the time comes.

Think About What You’ll Say

Even though you’ll probably just spout out “YES!” as loud as you can (in between tears, of course) – consider what you might want to say in return to your boyfriend. He’ll be down on one knee, pouring his heart out and he deserves to have the same sweet sentiments in return. After all, you are accepting an invitation to spend the rest of your life with him, you might as well start it off with kindness! (And some exciting celebratory sex!)
