The Perfect Intimate Proposal on their 5th Anniversary

Brianne & German

How They Met

German and I both used to work at Target. I’ve noticed German on multiple occasions. He was always making people laugh. He was loud and hilarious and me being more shy and quiet, I never had the courage to talk to him. One day I caught him staring at me and he immediately came up and said “Hello Brianne!”. It was as if he knew me all along. What impressed me the most was that he said my name correctly, Not Brianna, no Brian but Brianne. From that day on we began talking and flirting until about a week later he asked me out on a date. He was the exact opposite of me, outgoing, funny and confident. I loved It!

The Proposal

German: We had just moved back to San Diego and it was going to be our 5th anniversary. We were both so happy, what better way to start our 5th year together then to be engaged. I planned a mini vacation up in Solana Beach with a romantic dinner. I had originally planned to propose at the restaurant but after arriving to the hotel, I knew it would be more special to Brianne if we proposed in a more private area.  So we headed up to the terrace, and the sun began to set. I made the excuse to go get my jacket because it was cold. I really went to go get the ring. When I came back up I started telling Brianne what the last 5 years had meant to me. How moving up to another city and facing new challenges up there made me realize how patient, loving and motivating Brianne is and how the simplest phrase like “ Have a great day” lifted my spirits every day that I had to go to work. I told her that the year that we were up in Ventura really taught us both to be there for each other and face any problems together. That just reassured me that I wanted to marry her. Then I popped the question.

Brianne: I remember being completely in shock. I had no clue he was going to propose. Yes I know it was our anniversary but I was so happy we were celebrating with a getaway. I never thought there could be more to it. As German was telling me how much he loved me I still had no idea, because German loves to give speeches and loves to declare his love. I’m one lucky girl. Next thing I know he is down on one knee proposing. I was so shocked I asked “Is this for real?” To which German said “yes its real.” I then immediately said YES!!!

The Engagement Session

Our very first day trip, as a couple was to Julian, CA. As a Cali girl I had never seen snow. When German found out, he planned the perfect day in Julian to see the snow. It was one of my favorite days ever. We ate apple pie, German’s favorite dessert. We went to the beautiful used book store in town. Lastly we had to play in the snow. There wasn’t tons of snow on the ground but there was enough to have a small snowball fight. We had so much fun. So when thinking of where we wanted our engagement pictures taken, Julian was the perfect place. We decided to recreate that date, and even though it didn’t snow  the wind in the woods was still freezing !

The Engagement Ring

German : I picked the ring out all by myself. I did look at Brianne’s Pinterest page and knew she liked a more vintage style. The first shop I went to I found the perfect ring, because it was the perfect meld of the rings she liked. I knew right away she would love it.

Brianne :  It was absolutely perfect. I could not have dreamt up a better ring. It has a beautiful round cut diamond, with gorgeous filigree on the sides. The ring forms two hearts to hold the diamond up. It was perfectly vintage yet with a touch of modern. I loved it!!!
