An Elvis Impersonator Proposal at Grandma’s Birthday Party

Katrina & Anthony

The Proposal

Every year since 2009, the Tomacchio family has celebrated the birthday of Anthony’s grandmother (Gramma) with a big backyard party. But the party has a very special meaning. For many years, Anthony’s grandmother and grandfather loved to see a certain Elvis impersonator perform. His grandmother was actually the impersonator’s seamstress, making many of his Elvis costumes! It was always a special thing for the couple. Anthony’s grandfather passed away in 2006, and his grandmother, 85, now suffers from Alzheimer’s. Now, the family invites the Elvis impersonator to the birthday party every year, putting an incredible smile on Gramma’s face, and helping her recall some special memories.

The first time Katrina met Anthony’s huge Italian family, the couple had their very first dance to Elvis’ “Can’t Help Falling In Love” . They decided that would be their wedding song.

At the party this year, the Elvis impersonator called Anthony up to the microphone. The music started to play, and Elvis started to sing, but Anthony stayed quiet. Finally, Anthony said, “Uh, I can’t sing.” And then Elvis said, “OK, well choose someone to come up and help us out then.”  That’s when Anthony called Katrina up to the microphone. Scared that she was going to have to sing in front of 100 people, she said, “I can’t sing either! Please don’t make me!” But that’s when Anthony got down on one knee and proposed.
