A Family Proposal

Ciara & Eric

How They Met

Ciara: “We were set up by family members. If you know anything about being set up, I’m sure you can imagine the excruciating pain. It was like pulling teeth for us to agree to meet one another. Finally, with lots of annoying encouragement I finally gave him my number via facebook. Apparently we both hated the idea of a blind date, so he was practically forced to call me. But, after we talked I decided that I didn’t get the weirdo vibe from him and agreed to go on a date.”

The Proposal

Eric: ” I told Ciara my family was having a celebration dinner. I wanted to make sure Ciara’s nails were done for when I proposed. (You can’t put a ring on it with messed up nails. right!) I took her to get a mani/pedi (which is unusual for me). She told me that I was acting weird but hadn’t figured out what was going on. Normally we go to Ciara’s grandmother’s house for dinner on Sundays. We cancelled with grandma due to the celebration.”

“The most interesting thing happened. Ciara asked me to check and see if her grandma and family would like to meet us for dinner with my family. Ciara had no idea that her family was already going to be there. So, I called her grandma and told her that Ciara wanted me to ask if she and the family would come to dinner and celebrate. When we got there, everyone was being really nice they ordered their food. Ciara and I were sitting and the end of the table. While talking, I explained to Ciara that everyone wasn’t just there for dinner. I explained that they were also there for us. I then got on one knee and proposed. She was so surprised that all she could do was cover her face and cry…”

The Engagement Ring

Ciara: ” I love my beautiful pear shaped diamond ring with halo and a white gold band designed by Sylvie. I joined the military this past year. While I was in basic training Eric wrote me almost daily. In his letters he began to talk about how he didn’t want to be apart again and that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. He was definitely being more serious than I’m used to about our relationship. What I didn’t know was how serious. While I was away at basic training Eric took my Grandmother and picked out my beautiful ring. He even had the help of the designer Sylvie. “

Designer Sylvie Levine says: “It was so special to meet with Eric as I love the element of surprise when proposing. How many men go shopping for an engagement ring with their girlfriend’s grandmother? This is really special! I am such a believer in “what is meant to be” and this story really captures that emotion for me. Love stories like Ciara and Eric’s are exactly why I love what I do so much and how amazing it is to get to be a part of them.”
