How They Met

We met at the theater during intermission at “South Pacific.” We were both season ticket holders to the traveling Broadway shows and had been sitting next to each other for a couple years and finally said hello.

The Proposal

Bobby told me he was on a business trip to Denver, and did everything he could to sell that story. He posted photos to Instagram of the Denver area, called me reporting on the details of his day of training, and had family members write on his wall giving him restaurant recommendations in the Denver area. His story was rock solid. 

While he was “in Denver,” his sisters called and invited me to meet them for dinner at City Creek Center in Salt Lake City. As we walked toward the courtyard with the beautiful fountain (aptly titled “Engage”) his sisters handed me an iPad and told me to watch.

The cute video included a look back at all of the adventures we embarked on together since we started dating. He even had a local musician record one of our favorite songs, “Wanted” by Hunter Hayes. Then as the video ended, much to my surprise, I felt a tap on my shoulder. There he was. I immediately hugged him and said, “WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?!?”

He got down on one knee, I quickly said yes and immediately kissed him. Cheers erupted from around us inside the mall. I had no idea the cheers were from my friends and family. He arranged to have everyone we love there to witness our special moment (my parents, my sister, and my aunt flew in from the Northwest, my girlfriends, my co-workers, and his family).

The Engagement Ring
