A Day-Long Proposal in Chicago

Ashley and Dave

Prologue

Something was definitely up. Each day of the week prior to the proposal, Ashley had received a note from Dave and a small token of his love. So when she showed up on Friday at work and realized her schedule had been cleared, she got really nervous. A chauffeur was waiting for her, and… Here is how this very special “Proposal Friday” happened.

Proposal Friday

Pampered at the Spa:  “Dave’s friend Jim picked me up at work… Dave had arranged for me to get a massage and a manicure.”

A hotel gateaway: “Following my amazing pampering, Jim dropped me off at the W Hotel. When I arrived at the room, I was completely overwhelmed by the picturesque view of Lake Michigan and Navy Pier.”

Champagne and Chocolate: “Dave requested that at 12:15, I meet him at the Wet Deck. As the doors to the elevator opened, there was a path of rose petals leading from the doors to the wet deck outside.  I saw not only the beautiful lake view, but a table with chocolate covered strawberries, champagne and a note! The note asked me to turn around, and when I did, Dave was there on one knee asking me to marry him!”

Revisiting Their First Kiss: “Dave wanted to take a walk this afternoon. He wanted to kiss me in the same spot we had our first kiss on the same day we decided to spend the rest of our lives together!”

The Perfect Dinner they Planned on their First Date: “A car picked us up and drove us to Frontera Grill for dinner.  Dave and I are absolutely huge fans of Mexican food and had been talking about getting reservations at Frontera since the day we met.”

Celebrating Where it All Began: “Coincidentally (or not?!) Frontera is just across the street from the Irish pub where Dave and I had our first date! When we arrived, we headed upstairs, where Dave had arranged for a small group of our friends to meet us out and celebrate. It was a fabulous surprise and so much fun.”

A Night to Remember: “When we went back to our hotel room, in the center of the bed, was a heart made out of rose petals with a book in the center.  In the book, Dave had placed copies of all the notes he had sent me throughout the week with photos of the small gifts that went with them as a keepsake of our perfect day and perfect proposal!”

Picking the Engagement Ring

Dave: I asked one of Ashley’s  best friends to take her shopping. With the help of her friend, I got all the necessary details concerning Ashley’s ring size, and what style of rings she was drawn to. A lot of the rings that Ashley liked happen to be rings designed by Sylvie, so I started looking at the styles she picked along with some other styles that were very similar to try and find something that I loved as well and would feel confident in giving her.

Designer Sylvie Levine says: “We are so thrilled for Dave and Ashley!  Not only did they find each other but they found their perfect Sylvie Collection diamond engagement ring to symbolize eternal love and commitment.  The halo style setting has been one of our strongest over the past year because it makes the center stone look larger and more beautiful!”

Ashley: The ring is gorgeous! It is a round brilliant cut diamond in a cathedral setting surrounded by a halo made up of two rows of pave diamonds from, part of the Sylvie’s Petite Collection.  The band is classic and simple, with a slight bevel that adds to its uniqueness.  Despite the popularity of engagement rings with halo settings, I am constantly told how unique the ring is by others.  Every time I look at the ring, I smile knowing that I get to spend the rest of my life with Dave!
