A Grand Canyon Proposal

How they met

Sarah didn’t want to meet any of the marines a friend of hers was trying to introduce her to. But that was before she opened an email and saw the picture of the man of her dreams, Caleb.

They talked on the phone for a few weeks and finally met face to face in January 2010. “It was all so amazing and has never stopped since” says Sarah.

The proposal

Sarah is a local Las Vegas photographer. That’s why she was thrilled when Caleb asked her to pack for an afternoon of hiking. They headed out to the Grand Canyon and hiked to the furthest edges of the South Rim for an optimal photo-taking sunset. There was a shuttle bus riding from outlook point to outlook point, but Caleb insisted to hike instead, even if he is not a big fan. He knew Sarah loved hiking.

They stopped on their own private cliff to enjoy the view and the sunset. Caleb suggested to Sarah to set up her tripod. A few minutes later, they were taking pictures together. When Caleb asked Sarah to take a full-frame portrait of them, she went to set the timer one more time.

She ran toward him, ready to make a picture face, when he grabbed her hands and went down on one knee. He was holding a big sparkling ring that Sarah, in her excitement, barely noticed.

“Will you take a jump with me, Sarah Bouchard?”, he said calmly.  “Ugh, ut, ah… what?! What’s happening? Is this for real?” Sarah was so excited! “Will you marry me, Sarah?” he asked. Just right when she had the brightest smile on her face, SNAP! The camera went off and captured this beautiful moment! He said, “Well, will you?” and of course she answered, “Yes!” immediately!
