A Vegas Proposal

The Proposal

Jen works in public relations, marketing and advertising for Luxury brand industries, and she was attending a huge international trade show in Las Vegas in June 2010. Jen’s boss put her up in a really huge suite at the  Trump International Hotel with views of the entire Vegas strip, so she called Brad and said he should definitely come to Vegas for the weekend to check it out, but he said he couldn’t. After walking the trade show floor all day, Jen decided to bail out an hour early so she could get ready for a client dinner her boss had scheduled later that evening. When she arrived back at the Trump International Hotel, she saw Brad standing in the lobby waiting in the check-in line. He said he wanted to surprise her since she said how great the hotel room was, plus he wanted to gamble. (She actually believed him!)

When they got back to the room, Jen’s boss called and was mad that Jen left the show early and asked for her to be ready in 30 minutes for their client dinner. Brad suggested Jen get ready and that they could meet after dinner. Jen took a shower and started getting ready. She walked outside the bathroom and saw rose petals going from the bedroom to the living room. Brad was down on one knee with a box in his hand. He said: “I love you and always have. Will you marry me?” He then informed Jen that he had asked for her father’s permission, which was very important to Jen’s family.

Of course, Jen later found out that the client dinner was just part of the plan her boss and Brad had coordinated to keep it a surprise. Little did she know, by leaving an hour early from the trade show, she was messing up Brad’s original engagement plan, which was to surprise Jen with champagne and a fully decorated room. Regardless of the botched plans, she knows their lives together will never go according to plan, but Jen feels so blessed to have found the most perfect match for her and one that will roll with the punches.

The Engagement Ring

Christian Tse designed Jen’s engagement ring. Her personal style is very contemporary with classic touches. She wanted her engagement ring to be the same. She told Brad she wanted an oval diamond with pave diamonds around it, and, most importantly, to be as unique as possible. (She gave him a picture of Katie Holmes’ engagement ring as a sample.) Her ring features a 1.20-carat oval center and two rows of micro-pave diamonds around the center. It’s 18-karat white gold on a split shank with diamonds on the band. “Everyone that sees it says, ‘It’s so different and totally you!’” Jen says.
