A popular viral video of a guy proposing to his girlfriend during a hockey game and getting turned down has been circling the web for awhile now. In the video, the couple (both Rangers fans) are sitting in the audience when the message “Melissa, will you be my blue shirt bride? Love, Chris” flashes on the screen. “Melissa” is momentarily shocked as she covers her mouth with her hand. She then starts to shake her head ‘no’ and stands up and leaves, much to the embarrassment of “Nick.”

It turns out this proposal fail wasn’t a failure at all. “Nick” and “Melissa” were actually actors hired by the Rangers team to provide entertainment to the legion of hockey fans (as if the game itself wasn’t enough). The actors are actually happily engaged in real life. So, in the end, I guess the only joke is on us.
