Chelsea Clinton’s wedding is turning out to be the wedding of the year! The latest rumor to emerge about the former first daughter’s wedding is about the wedding cake. According to Ecorazzi, Chelsea wants a vegan, gluten-free wedding cake.
Vegan wedding cakes are definitely on the rise. Popular vegan backery Babycakes, located in NYC, is known for its delicious vegan cakes and is rumored to be baking a cake for Chelsea’s wedding. Other celebs who had vegan wedding cakes? Ellen Degeneres and Portia de Rossi had a red velvet vegan wedding cake for their 2008 wedding. Scrumptious!
Most people today view married couples who sleep in separate beds as something from a different era. Mike and Carol from the The Brady Brunch slept in side-by-side beds, and even they eventually chucked that in favor for a king-sized bed in the later seasons.
But according to a recent study, sleeping in separate beds is no longer something our grandparents only do. Nearly one in four American couples sleep in separate bedrooms or beds, the National Sleep Foundation reported in a 2005 survey. And if that doesn’t sound shocking enough, the foundation is predicting a rise of dual-master bedrooms to emerge in 2015. Wait, what? What’s with society’s massive step backward?
Well, according to a column in The New York Times, they blame the obvious culprit — technology. There was also a significant amount of blame put on children and snoring. But out of all the excuses the reasoning that makes the most sense is society placing sleep at a higher priority. It turns out we would much rather get our beauty rest in the guest bedroom than listen to our hubby watch TV and text on his Blackberry.
Do you and your partner sleep in separate beds/rooms?
When shopping for the engagement ring and the wedding rings, it’s a good idea to consider buying a matching engagement ring and wedding band set. By purchasing all the rings in a set, you’re guaranteed to have rings that compliment each other perfectly, and you won’t have to worry about buying them separately.
Wondering where to start? Here are three interesting matching engagement ring/wedding band sets we found at yesterday’s New York Market show to give you an idea of where to start and what to look for:
This Catherine Iskiw matching set lets you slide the wedding band into the engagement ring for a solid, cohesive look.
This Beverley K matching vintage inspired set is simply gorgeous.
This Richard Landi matching set is very unique with its oval diamonds that over the band.
We might idolize the way celebrities look, but most celebrities have an entourage of stylists to keep them looking so perfect all the time. We wanted to know what would happen if we gave three everyday women the star treatment. Would they be able to pull off the same look?
In the new issue of Engagement 101 we did exactly that. With help from celebrity hair stylist Francky L’ Official we took three everyday women and made them over into their favorite celebrities. Francky, who gave Jersey Shore’s Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi a much-needed makeover, has a natural eye for beauty transformations and knew exactly what do to for our three lucky ladies.
“I look at the face first — the way they look, the way they talk, where they work,” he said. “I then look for what feature I can make look best.”
Jennifer Schiffman, a recently engaged 31-year-old, was made over into Eva Mendes. Becky Fawcett, a 41-year-old mother of two and founder of Helpusadopt.org, was made over into Jennifer Aniston. And Michelle Schettino, a 28-year-old who is planning her wedding, was made over into Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria Parker.
Want to see the results of the makeovers? Check out our behind-the-scenes video below, or pick up a copy of Engagement 101.
But if the glitz and glam of celebrity life have you seething with jealousy, you’ll love the makeovers we did with help from celebrity hair stylist Francky L’Official. Because the average woman can’t afford the things a celebrity can, we decided to give three everyday women the star treatment by making them over into their favorite celebrity. [WATCH THE VIDEO].
The new issue also has a bridal style section for those soon-to-be brides who are already thinking about the wedding. Browse the latest runway styles, get dress suggestions that flatter your particular body shape and find the perfect dress to match your engagement ring. Whatever your style is, you’ll find it in the style section.
A romantic husband wanted to give his Apple fanatic wife a new iPad for her birthday. But he didn’t want to just wrap it in wrapping paper like everyone else, he wanted to do something special. So, with help from some friends who own a chocolate shop, he had the iPad frozen in chocolate carbonite. The result? Well, according to the photos, his wife was very pleased!
AskMen.com’s annual male survey contains some interesting insights about men and what they think about relationships. According to the survey, 31 percent of men think loyalty is most important in a woman. 30 percent also said it was required for their girlfriend to have “wife potential.”
While most of the survey results seem fair and honest (the majority of respondents said they would never cheat and only fantasize about a girlfriend’s friend sometimes), a uncomfortable amount of men (46 percent, to be exact) admitted they would dump their girlfriend or wife if they gained weight (as opposed to the less than 20 percent of women respondents who said they wouldn’t.)
Another interesting statistic is the 75 percent of men who say they are consistently romantic as oppose to the 40 percent of women who say their boyfriends are almost never romantic. Hmmm.
Think your wedding ring is one-of-a-kind? Think again! Check out this really cool wedding ring that has a projector built right into the band.
Best husband in the world Luke Jerram teamed up with a local jewelry store to build the unique ring, according to Gizmodo. The wedding has tiny photographic slides and an adjacent lens. When light is shone directly on the slide it projects a photo of the happy couple, just like a real projector. Really unique, huh? Definitely a one-of-a-kind gem.
Bret Michaels was rumored to be engaged to long-time girlfriend Kristi Lynn Gibson last week after pictures surfaced of her wearing what looked like an engagement ring. Bret later denied the rumors saying he was not engaged and that the ring was actually a promise ring.
Promise rings have been growing in popularity recently. Once used more frequently amongst young couples, the promise ring now is used by the increasing amount of long-term couples who live together, raise children together but still are not 100 percent sure they’re committed to each other.
Those couples who are feeling anxious about getting engaged but want in on the engagement fun can opt-out with a promise ring. The promise ring comes with all the positive benefits of an engagement ring (pretty ring, get to show off to friends, etc.) but with none of the effort (seriously settling down, planning a wedding, etc.)
What do you think of the rise of promise rings? Would you rather have a promise ring than an engagement ring?
A Minneapolis woman accidentally lost her $7,000 engagement ring when she dropped it in a lake. The recently engaged couple was sunbathing when the woman decided to take off her engagement ring to keep it from getting wet. While holding the ring in her mouth the woman accidentally dropped the ring, which bounced off the boat’s floor and splashed into the water.
A scuba diver, who heard about the woman’s loss, decided to go searching for the engagement ring with a metal detector. After three days he finally found the engagement ring buried beneath some sand. The diver returned the engagement ring and got a $750 reward. Lucky woman! Although, to be honest, the diver should have been rewarded with more money than that. What do you guys think?
