Alternative Engagement Rings With Singular Shaped Stones

2016 NEW ENGAGEMENT RING TREND

Today I focus on narrowing down new peculiar (but in a good way) engagement ring choices. If you are not into classic engagement ring styles, you are not alone. Now that most women are involved in picking their dream ring, their imagination and that of the designers making them is the limit.  Humans come in many shapes and forms so why not apply the same concept to engagement rings? Here are 6 settings pushing the boundaries of tradition.

Like many other editors, buyers and bloggers, I was speechless when discovering  Megan Thorne‘s new collection at Couture. As she likes to say, becoming a mother rekindled her passion for her work and it shows! Proof is this feminine yet strong ring featuring a lovely kite-shaped diamond and sapphire accents.

Another antique diamond cut making a come back , the shield step-cut. It looks very now set in yellow gold in this design by Rosedale Jewelry . To me it looks like the side view of a brilliant-cut diamond which is super fun. Last year’s trend of slim rings with small centers you can collect and stack is still going strong. If this ring is too modest for you as an engagement ring, treat yourself and #keepstacking.

This year, I pushed myself to research more new and alternative designers with the help of amazing jewelry curators and shows (a special shout out to Liz Kanter and Benjamin Guttery , check out their blogs and Instagram). It’s been a great journey (that’s clearly not over) and I have made a lot of new friends.  Adriatic Jewelry  is a collection inspired by the Adriatic sea and its region. I love the curves and angles on their rings. They use white sapphires which makes the whole collection really affordable. My favorite styles are their 3-stone rings. The one I picked is beautiful and so unique. I am also fond of another one you can check out on their website with oval stones set in waves of gold.

alternative engagement ring - Rebeccaovermann

If you live in San Francisco you are obviously very lucky as many talented new jewelry designers are setting up shop in the area. Rebecca Overmann has her own San Fran studio and is sold in retailers across the country. This ring is hot!  Two rose cut diamonds in the most amazing hues twinning in different shapes and directions.

Alternative engagement ring - Brown Teardrop Halo Ring 19 18Y

Like many before me and probably you in the near feature, I am  in love with Polly Wales. Well, I haven’t met her yet, just her jewelry, and I have a boyfriend…  but how can you not develop a huge jewelry crush as you try on her amazing art. Yes, it’s not just accessories, her jewelry is art you can wear. Each piece looks like a sculpture, each ring has different details. This ring features a unique tear-drop shaped brown diamond with white diamond accents. I just love how the rounds and baguettes create a crown or even a powdered wig effect. That’s what I see and it’s cool, maybe you are seeing something else, do tell….

I am a big fan of Suzanne Kalan Fireworks collection. This rose gold engagement ring features a pear center and a halo of baguette diamonds set and positioned in her signature style. The collection also includes bigger and bolder rings with additional rows of baguette diamonds.
