6 Sustainable Wedding Dresses Designers

ethical shopping

To wrap up this month focus on shopping ethically, here are 6 eco-concious wedding dresses brands. They make beautiful dresses in sustainable fabrics and follow fair trade practices that empower women in poor countries. Keep them in mind for the day after your engagement :). Unfortunately I had to virtually cross the ocean to find enough design options for this post. US bridal industry, time to think about the future of the planet!

This very pretty A-line dress with exquisite details – love the pockets and slim straps – is in sumptuous heirloom eco-silk. It looks super comfy yet very couture and is only $2,499.

Deborah Lindquist – It is incredible how many couture details Deborah is able to add to her sustainable dresses. They are very sophisticated and intricate. Tara Lynn is a Vermont designer who uses natural, organic and re-purposed fibers. She does a lot of her sewing work by hand or with vintage sewing machines. I love her nature inspired dresses. “Athena”, the dress featured above is in hemp and silk. It is very soft, works great on a lot of body-types and you can dye it after the wedding to wear it again and again. Great price too at $1,100. (Photo credit: Jay Ericson)

H&M Conscious Exclusives –  a yearly limited edition from H&M – included wedding dresses this year . I am still in awe of the whole collection. My favorite is  this $220 ballgown in linen, eco-silk and hemp. The cut is gorgeous, the marble inspired print is  unique, and  I love the added floral details for a more classic bridal touch. WOW! Do it again please!
