When we started Engagement 101, it was right at the beginning of big changes in engagement ring design. The classic Tiffany solitaire was starting to get competition from halo styles and more intricate settings. Today the possibilities are endless, with many talented designers exploring alternative designs and couples venturing in designing and customizing their engagement ring. We asked some of our favorite designers their feed-back on these changes and how their collection is different from 10 years ago.

The team from Vanna K shared with us their input about engagement ring design then and the trends of tomorrow.

“In 2006, our best selling ring was our twist ring, what we like to call “When Two Become One”. It is a micro pave ring with a twist effect, where the band is made with two intertwined strands of pave, each symbolizing a life, and melting together into one to signify a united and single life.

Now, I’d say one of our best selling rings is the one one pictured on the right, which is also a micro pave style ring.  As you’ll see, this one features a pave halo with a cushion cut center.  Fancy shaped diamonds are also very hot right now.”
